What’s stopping Essendon from getting ahead of us and swapping Pick 6 for 2x Geelong First Rounders? Thereby forcing our hand with 7

Good thinking, but that's not going to happen.
Dodoro would have already fallen in love with what pick #6 may offer and to then cut his nose to spite his face.....not going to happen.

We give them 7 for Saad and a late first rounder, then use the last first rounder and next year's first for Oliver. Done and done.

Its a bit late and a bit precious for Rohan Connolly and the like to be calling the club a carcrash. The rest of us knew it the day the lid blew off and if their supporters had been angry then at what their club had done to the game and to its own supporters, they might be in a better state now. It was always going to catch up with them at some point. And it will probably take them as long as its taken us to get serious about restoration and reparation.
Yep, karma's a bitch.

Nice.

Rohan Connolly (along with Mark Robinson) was head of the Kool-Aid gang in the drugs “we all feel sorry for the players” scandal.

He’s only got himself to blame.

Imagine how a first round downgrade out of spite would reflect on a list management team that loses Daniher, Saad and god knows who else in the one trade period.

What if we don’t bend on 7 and Essendon loses Saad for nothing?

Unpalatable for members I would have thought.

You'll know if you watch Essendon week in and week out. You may not realise it now, but you'll realise why when you're 4 points down with 2 minutes to go.

He gives 100% from start to finish and holds the whole backline together every single week he plays. He's a great pick up.
Sounds like the right person to take Kade’s number 6 to me. All heart, with a nice left peg to boot.

Carlton has secured Adam Saad by offering a five-season deal worth $650,000 a season despite Essendon’s last-ditch bid to secure the defender over the weekend.
Essendon captain Dyson Heppell spent time reinforcing the club’s direction and premiership potential with uncontracted defender Adam Saad over the weekend.

But Carlton has been told by Saad he will come to the Blues after weeks of speculation about the half back’s future at Essendon.

The biggest take away from the reaction of * supporters is how much they rate Saad. None are taking the “he’s no good, have him” road.

All genuinely crushed.
It seems like Rutten had a different role for him next season, believed to be a more forward and lockdown role, in preference to his preferred role as halfback running/attacking defender. With Simmo's departure from us this year, there is a perfect opening for this type of player at our club now.
