Mate, it’s the one, big, burning question on everybodies mind.
Can Buddy stand up on bin night?
Look at his technique. Interesting, most would go with the traditional ‘push one pull the other’,yet Buddy opts for the more modern, and frankly riskier ‘double forward push’. Really quite astounding.
Generational talent.

Not sure how any can make a coherent argument against trading two firsts for top-drawer talent.

This draft is literally the biggest crap shoot since the draft began.

We essentially have 22 players 25 and under that are probably good enough to play AFL long term.

By far and away, our primary personnel issue is a top tier mid.

If its available, we take it.
NAIL AND HEAD.

Did you see this on Friday (Daily Mail - another trash tabloid  ) ...

Jeez, good thing it was Buddy’s house because the link makes it sound he is taking out the trash at random houses.

Heeney not what we need? I'd love him at the club, if injury didn't present issues.
He'd be the player behind Papley though, that Sydney wouldn't want to lose.

Much more of an impact player forward, than McGovern, Silvagni, Kennedy...etc.
He'd be great for us. Very dangerous anywhere, but a beast forward.
We have more pressing needs than Heeney.
Mainly a midfielder we can rely on with pace, in addition to Williams.
We don’t need an impact forward as you describe,we need a class small pressure forward that can goal.
Plus, if Sydney are giving up Heeney, there is a problem and I doubt it’s attitude and it’s not homesickness.

So what’s happened today ? I noticed we haven’t had any bluemours today.

Stephen Silvagni decreed that we rest on Sundays.

He may be gone but his almighty power remains.

Taranto aside, there is Not one player that we have been linked with on this Bluemour thread we are linked to that I would do that deal (not even Josh Kelly)

We Saw how damaging the Shiel trade has been for Essendon (for example)

I can and have.

Two firsts are reserved for absolute premium talent and for talent that completes your team and right now we're not sure what completes our team.
Handing over two firsts may come about somewhat easier for the fact we don't have to trade for Williams, but is it he right thing for the CFC?

Personally, I think it's fairly obvious what we need to complete our team in the immediate future.

We're four players short.

1. Two premium mids. Someone who will lighten the load on Cripps and an elite ball user.
2. A small forward who both kicks goals and has the vision to set up easier goals for our key forwards.
3. A lockdown small-to-medium-sized defender.

I'd be willing to pay the price for an elite midfielder with 5+ years left. This covers our window.

Smart recruiting can get another midfielder and the forward and defender done.

In the longer term, we'll eventually need to find a replacement for Liam Jones, if that's not already on the list.

Other older players like Murphy, Ed Curnow, etc. should be fairly easy to replace with who we have and who we'll be able to recruit fairly comfortably.

Note: I've not included the Williams acquisition in this.

Re. Kelly and 'change in circumstances'...

Very nice house in an even nicer location...he’s essentially taken a near 200k loss plus interest on a decent size loan if he had one.

Weird thing to do if hanging around in Sydney don’t you think?

Plenty that hit targets on a regular basis

Just to name a few

Williams, Zac Bailey, Witherden, Houston, Perryman
Williams aside I think that’s the problem, like Kelly they are all contracted. The most gettable would probably be Witherden and he comes with his own faults.

Yes. Puzzling. Purchased in April for $3.45m. Put house up for sale in June.
Sold in early August for same amount. As you say, takes a $200k odd loss.
90 day settlement brings him to early November.
Free Agency period starts Oct 30. Trade period Nov 4.
Found timing and reason for sale as 'a change of circumstances' curious...

Exactly. Players that can hit targets consistently save the team countless KM's from turnovers and transfer of play. in their Prime, Hawthorn was a fit team no doubt, but also had a lot of players that were good by foot. Once you get the ball you can move it a lot faster and don't give the Opp a chance to flood.

Also, if you can get a mid that can kick it 50m, they become more of a threat to the Opp because they can either hit a leading Forward in space, or clear the congestion in the backline. Goal kicking Mids must be our main focus.

Trade/Free agency preferred to draft as we need an injection of proven players now if we are any chance at a flag in the next few years.
