There is a false equivalency scourge undermining modern society. Somehow many people have been convinced that their own opinions matter more than experts. See also vaccines.

Opinions are part of what makes footy great, no question. But I’ll back the review over my own feelings and I say that as someone who otherwise supports a change of coach.

Whenever you hear, "ah, but that's what they want you to think..." in conversation, just switch off, disengage and walk away.
 
I see that Tim Watson is encouraging Carlton to go after Luke Dunstan. It staggers me that you can be paid 100's of thousands of dollars to have an opinion on football and just have absolutely no idea about list needs and game style. Seriously. We are so slow through the middle, don't run both ways, miss targets and he wants us to go after Luke Dunstan, a slow left footer who can't hit targets. My god I need a break from footy.

also, it’s now obvious that the panel,that appointed Bolton got it wrong because they appointed a teacher who had never played at the elite level. It was akin to appointing a smart academic Ffs.
Then sentiment led to tneceasy appointment of Teague.

You need to appoint a former successful footballer, who is either a mercurial, massive bullshit artist, like Kevin Sheedy, or, more typically, a bloke with real football smarts and a natural masculinity . E.g. Alistair Clarkson, John Longmuire, Ben Rutton and even Leon Cameron.
It ain’t rocket science.

And on those scores Brendan Bolton and David Teague don’t qualify.Btw neither does Brett Ratten.

Think about the former grat coaches and then find what they had in common.

What did Len Smith, Alan Jeans, Ron Barassi have in common?

And then go to later generations and see whether they had anything different, in real terms, from Smith, Jeans and Barassi.

One thing they all have in common is that at some point they were rookie coaches without a premiership. ;)
