He lost me at Jack Elliott and his son Tom... FMD....ha ha
Yeah look tbh I don't personally think old Jack is up to becoming president at his age, his got health issues too from what I've heard and Tom has one of the highest rating radio programs in the country so I don't think he wants to leave it anytime soon. The Elliott's will always love Carlton though and its just a pity the people who have been in charge since their departure don't have the same passion for the club as them.

Anyway my take is here on this thread here: https://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/farewell-letter-from-the-president.1281772/
But we do desperately need an EGM though, full respect to Vince Loccisano for having the guts to stand up and do what so many blues fans have wanted for so long. I'll be first in line to vote the opposing ticket as I want to see this club become successful again

Respect for women. Didn't he pay money out for alleged sexual harassment?

I don't know the details and sometimes people just pay money because legal fees cost more. So as I said I don't know the details. But given it got press coverage, it may stress may cause image issues.
We all make mistakes....as long as we learn from them is the main point...

What we have to consider is that good coaches are rarely available and if we let this opportunity slip (Lyon / Clarkson) we would be crazy because our training wheels coach is not changing things for the better and won't in the future.
We would be derelict as a club not to grab one of them whilst a chance is there to redeem ourselves from the lack of due diligence we didn't do three years ago....

My dads statement on current events at our club:

"I have been watching Carlton play since the 1960's. But I find the current board administration and players unrecognisable. They don't play with any passion and almost seem happy when they lose. Maybe their thinking about their pay packets to fall back on. The Carlton Football Club when I was a kid was a powerhouse of the competition. The benchmark of the completion. Teams did not like venturing to Princes Park for our home games. The current players are an embarrassment to the AFL. What Carlton needs is a complete cleanout. Someone needs to come to the club with a very large broom and sweep out the president, the board and administration in 1 go. We need someone like Jack Elliott or his son Tom to return to the club ASAP. Most supporters of my age have either given up or become completely dislodged with the current club. The final straw for me was the demolition of the Pratt stand recently. Apparently this was just another of Loguidice's community projects. He fails to recognise how important this stand was for old time club supporters like myself that contained the Bruce Doull and Alex Jeasoulenko suite as well as the cups. Its unforgivable. The club has lost its soul, as well as its purpose. And not surprisingly we finished well out of the finals race, yet again. How long are members going to put up with this. We need a complete revolution down at Princes Park and I'm happy to start it. These clowns that think that they perpetuate themselves inside the board room, need to be exposed to the membership. While most other clubs embark on 5 year plans to win Premierships, Carlton is on a 26 year plan and running to head in the opposite direction. Good luck, you're going to need it"
I think what old school fans like your dad (and mine) don't seem to realise is this isn't the competition of old.

It's evolve, or be left behind. We've been behind for some time.

It's various things. Have to negotiate with everyone so neither Clarko or Ross think they hold all the cards.

A big issue is Clarko has a 900k vacation for next year which will be hard to negotiate against. That's quality time with his family that may have been lacking over the past decade, that's a serious long vacation and he may have his family giving input in regards to this.

Give him a month without coaching and his family might demand he take the job!

I agree, I think he could take Plowman’s role as he’s much quicker and has a massive leap - could play on talls and smalls.
I've been a massive proponent of Gov, but in this context, I'd take Plowman's dependability. One hardly misses, one hardly plays.

Better if the defenders are set as a unit. Rather than chopping and changing every week.

Ross just the exact type of coach we need IMO, also hard to believe that we have had nowhere ever near proper genuine midfield/stoppages coaches period…

Not much choice KP, if he really wants to go home then we unfortunately have let him go and get a deal done, what that is or who else it may actually involve who knows…

I’m a massive fan of the lad, he’s missed some large chunks through injury layoffs over past few seasons, also probably could be a product, like a few others of some poor development and poor overall gameplay/system not played enough to he’s strengths by position but certainly holds some responsibility of the way he has played at times with poor effort and commitment…

Hopefully we can keep him, have you heard he may want out?

Nah i haven't heard anything. COVID restrictions and having my bubs every second weekend has played havoc with me heading to the local footy club, so haven't had a chance to chat to my Blues contact..

Was interesting that a Hawks supporting caller on the radio this morning suggested the the Hawks improvement was as a result of sacking Clarko and wouldn’t have happened without it and Mitchell’s involvement.

Don't quote me on this, I actually have a feeling the club (for whatever reason) has gone cold on Clarkson, not the other way around.
Sayers has been very keen on Clarkson for some time, i suspect Clarkson has gone cold on us.

This is certainly true. We have been playing catch up for the last 20 years.

Really? I’d go as far as saying most of what’s happened in the last 20 years is because of the complete state of ruin John Elliott left the club in.
Even after all the failures of this current administration, how literally everything they've done is lead to this club being run into the ground, you still think the current strategy is the way to go?
These are the facts which have all contributed to the terrible culture created within our club:
-The board lacks transparency; their never open with their own members, the MLG has been Mr Invisiable for the past 7 years, he doesn't talk to the media, supporters or players

-The recruiting has been terrible; Steve Silvangi was the wrong appointment from the start, players such as McGovern, Martin and the GWS rejects were disasters that set us back years. I still have faith in a lot of our top end talent from the draft but the poor culture that has spread like a virus from the blokes at the top has effected them.

-Their anti democratic; Throughout his tenure MLG has spent years chipping away at the members rights, further restricting our voices and making it harder to elect outsiders on the board who want to challenge their failed administration

-Princes Park; There's an awful lot of Carlton supporters like my dad out there who are livid at the board for not fighting to get AFL matches back at our spiritual home. Playing at the ground again would help revive the old Carlton culture.

-The attitude; It stinks. Their just overall weak minded people who's attitude of rebuilding, buying time and selling false hope has crippled this club and disappointed its members. One of the reasons Carlton used to be successful was because the standards were high. From the moment new players walked into the club, they knew what it meant to wear the jumper. We were the best in the business because Elliott used to demand the players give "100% plus that little bit more" every week. The good clubs still think like that, yet when I watch the players play, some weeks like North, Gold Coast and Port they genuinely look like they don't give a shit. The coach doesn't give a shit, Cripps doesn't give a shit and frankly this starts from the board not giving a shit.

-The coaches; just a disaster. Why would you hire 2 inexperienced coaches like Bolton and Teague who had not coached at AFL level prior to coming to Carlton. Those 2 men have a lot in common and watching their press conferences all you get is excuses and a lack of caring after terrible performances. When the coach acts all calm after a loss, it rubs off on the players. We need to get the best coach at our club, either a Clarkson or Lyon.

I mean mate you literally cannot blame Jack Elliott for the failures of the past 7 years and theres no way you can say you think they've done a better job at running this club than old Jack did.

Pig's Arse Jack Ellott returning as President or his pompous gasbag of a Son ?

That might be enough Big Footy for me for the night, good grief.
