Can anyone read this?? Massive!!

Not much there meat of it is;

That way, Essendon was happy to receive pick No. 8 but help boost the Blues’ third-round draft position in return.

Sources this morning said the proposal was a fair deal for the gun linebreaker.

But just as talks were set to be finalised with the Blues, Carlton backed out, leaving Saad’s future back up in the air ahead of tomorrow night’s 7.30pm deadline.

It was said talks were calm and respectful until the last-minute surprise twist.

The trade was supposedly 8 and a future fourth for Saad and future third. It was agreed to last night and we’ve backed out today
That’s so weak by the club, why did they roll over and move from a receiving a second round pick back to a third round pick back. I’m really disappointed in Austin’s if true shows he is Dodoro’s bitch

Good. I want us to use the PSD. **** Essendon. Uncontacted players should be able to walk to whichever club they want. He doesn't have a contract with essendon anymore, so he's technically not employed by them. Why should we give them any compensation?

Sounds like the Essendon version of events.

lmfao what a shit ****ing article. Carlton and Essendon apparently had an agreement in a meeting last night then Carlton pulled out at the end of the meeting. So there was never any agreement. **** Essendon are pathetic running to the media every second.

If anyone's reputation is going to suffer here, it's Essendon's.

Players won't be going "Hey, I shouldn't try to get to Carlton, because they can't do deals".

They'll be going "Geez, I shouldn't ever consider going to Essendon, because their players clearly don't enjoy being there, and when their players do want out they make it as difficult as possible for everyone."

Caldwell has been suckered in by a fat contract. But you'd hope his manager has made it clear to him that going to Essendon is a long-term commitment. Because if he gets there and finds it's actually a shithole then he's going to find it very hard to jump ship.

Carlton on the other hand....you know what, we may have had some difficult negotiations recently, but none of our players seem to want to leave.

Yeah, think both clubs don’t look great if deals don’t get done. We couldn’t get Martin done last year - know it was great we got him in the psd, but we couldn’t get the deal done with GC.

You’re right that our players want to stay which is great, but not finalising deals isn’t great for the brand.

which part of "we didn't accept it" are you struggling with?

There’s absolutely 0% chance of us taking that approach without full engagement and agreement with Saad.

Maybe we banked on dodo been dodo the whole time...make it look like we'll play the game, meanwhile line up something else.
Saad goes via PSD and we get all we wanted to begin with.
Whatever goes down next you would have to assume confidently that Saad is in on this.
Lets see what happens.

Cheers. Any explanation for why we backed out now? Its not like the club just discovered dodo is difficult to deal with.
I reckon what some of the posters are saying could be right, this might be a tactical ploy by Essendon to get a leg up in negotiation. They keep forgetting he’s uncontracted and doesn’t want to return to the club..

More likely Essendon told the HS that we agreed and backed out to make us look like the ones acting in bad faith.
Exactly.. Dodo is trying all his media to paint us as bad, and them as good.. We havent backed out of anything except the crap he is trying to deal instead of a proper value for Saad.. We should do whatever trade we can to get a pick between 11-16 and then offer that only.. as thats closer to Saad proper value..

Que?

Article indicates we've pulled out, so not sure what your issue is.

Honestly - the cliff notes red a lot like Essendon propaganda.

That way, Essendon was happy to receive pick No. 8 but help boost the Blues’ third-round draft position in return. ie. "Look how generous Essendon are being."

Sources this morning said the proposal was a fair deal for the gun linebreaker. Ahh, the good old "mystery sources" who apparently determine whether a deal is fair...

But just as talks were set to be finalised with the Blues, Carlton backed out, leaving Saad’s future back up in the air ahead of tomorrow night’s 7.30pm deadline. Look, it's Carlton who reneged at the last minute!

It was said talks were calm and respectful until the last-minute surprise twist.
And again - everything was perfect until Carlton went and ruined it!

Reckon we've held out for the second rounder and Essendon are trying to game it via the media.

All smokes an mirrors i reckon re Saad's deal. The Blues wont renege on getting Saad. I think with Charles going down, the whole fan base is guttered, the club needs to swing the supposedly negative in to a positive to keep the faith?
CFC have come out beating their chest now even more so by the looks of things.
