So which horse are we backing for the draft? Walsh junior? Reckon having his little bro with us would help him adjust and bloom not unlike Charlie and Ed.

Im not against the idea. But he'll be a longer term prospect, dont expect to see him inside of 3 years without massive improvement. Needs to work on his running, tapwork, and impacting the contest when not rucking.

Missing a year of footy doesnt help. But like i said, i wouldn't be against it. Just need to bare in mind he's a very raw prospect who has all the key components but has to piece them together. Think of him as a TDK when he was drafted.

So when is McKay and Cripps putting pen to paper?
Retire 6 and 8 for a season out of respect.

Williams 16
Saad 42
Fogarty 37 (if he earns if, give him a jump up the order in 2022)
I think tom Williamson will be wearing 8....Changed his Twitter account not long after kruz retired.

I did notice that, he’s still got 31 in his bio though! Be interesting if they give TDK 8

I don’t give a sh*t.

the number doesn’t belong to the player.

it’s just nonsense.

I could understand if it was done for a tragic situation like Collingwood did with Darren Millane, but generally I agree with you.

Young and upcoming stars being honoured by getting a famous number worn at the club is one of the great traditions of the game.

dogs got treloar very cheap...in picks and if true filth paying chunk of his salary for the remainder of his contract. to me it seems like a missed oppoetuinity for us. we need to boost our midfield so why did we not show interest?

...listening to trade radio they suggested the pies wouldn’t have let us have him, particularly not under a similar arrangement.

Can't rectify it now, but I'd retire the numbers worn by players with 300 plus games. Thoughts?
We'd have already lost 1 and 2 for good with probably 3 to come next year, as well as 6. Don't think it needs that much of a tribute, maybe just the following year.

Project ruckman, exactly what’s needed. No expectation, just allowed to ply away in the twos and work on his game, body and fitness.

I suspect Geelong will nab him with the pick we traded for Fogarty. If he slips through though I think 38 would be perfect. If we hadnt of traded for Fogarty then at pick 30 he still would have been a good pick up.

Ask yourself, are we in a premiership window yet?

The club know where we're at. We are on the rise but until we rise we're mid range and developing.

Adding a 28 yr old with hamstring issues for the next 5 years is not the right move at this time.

If we did get him, our salary cup would be filled. It limits our ability to give Cripps and Harry better deals and given they're coming out of contract it's much more important to prioritise them.

Further to that... if we're to believe our trusty itk's... we have courted Oliver and he has shown his desire to come to us. Now, of course that could change come trade period next year but we were never realistically able to trade for him with a year running on his contract... Melbourne rightly demanded significant compensation and given our commitment to Saad and unwillingness to let go of Weitering, Walsh, Harry, Cripps and Charlie we just didn't have the trade commodities to get it done. Next year we'll have more leverage and be fully committed to Oliver. Plus Demons traded their f1 for 2 1sts this year.. could be something in that... why would they do that? Perhaps they anticipate they're getting one from us anyway?

Just have to keep being patient... if missing Treloar helps us bolster our offers to Cripps and Harry whilst giving us the ability to target Oliver next year, I'm all for it.
Thanks for the reply. I get it.

With academy and father son picks, 30 is likely to be 25ish. 38 wont be far behind 30 either if you look at the clubs between.

I also think there'll be a lot of earlier bidding on them given that they'd have the most support through COVID and should be seen as "safer" prospects. Who knows though? This trade period has thrown some curve balls and not just at Collingwood. 2020 has been interesting.

Dow played better and more consistent football over the first 18 months of his career than Fogarty has done to date.

It's amazing the lengths some people will go to to talk down our young talent. Especially when it is simply not correct.

I guess Fog is the shiny new toy so people haven't had a chance to turn on him yet.

What's that saying about the grass not always being greener on the other side?
I’m happy with Fogarty’s determination & aptitude for hunting contested ball. The lads character is well grounded, tackles beautifully & neat kick, cost CFC very little, almost zilch.
Others may show flashy handballs , burst speed from the packs at times, but can’t kick and very costly.
