The worst part of Saturday was that the team played with no spirit.
I have no idea why that would but that is on the complete group including coaches. It was embarrassing.
As an example - I don't think I have ever seen Ed Curnow more disinterested in competing or manning up. He has been terrible in a few games this year and beaten badly by his opponents but I never thought I would see him disinterested. Needs to be dropped this week!!
Have a look when the camera pans to his face after the 1/2 time break. Looks downright depressed. As an example - I don't think I have ever seen Ed Curnow more disinterested in competing or manning up.
Depends how they define effort .we're playing at full effort? fu**
he could have lied, a little maybe
Imo its clearly to give others an opportunity through the middle .As inexplicable as it is (especially given our position), sometimes teams come out flat after the bye.
As for Ed, it was ridiculous to move him to the backline a few weeks ago. Maybe that's thrown him off, or maybe he's carrying something? But any coach who thinks he should be in the team doing anything other than tagging should not have a job.
I don't know what's worse out of the two options.
The thing that bugged me was when the 50m against Cripps (wear your glasses Ray), no one went over to our captain and gave him any support or a chin up Pat on the back. I think one player did.
Other clubs have better team culture. We have issues.

If it was done at the start of the year you may be right .
But the season is now done as far as finals go so they are now finally getting back into a development mode .
I dont have a problem with it for now .
In fact if they refuse to play a Docherty Saad or Newman on someone like Liam Ryan id prefer it be Ed than waste the skill of Stocker on him .
Yep your right i wouldnt have him in the side if he wasnt tagging either .Don't bother with him in the team then. He doesn't offer anything in the forward or backline.
And he doesn't necessarily have to be in the guts either. Against West Coast, Gaff on the wing was the perfect target for Ed. But we let him cut us up.
On Saturday, he should have been on Whitfield.
Yep your right i wouldnt have him in the side if he wasnt tagging either .
But again its time to give others opportunities the very reason Murphy was dragged from the middle and most likely why Ed is in another role .
They clearly value his work ethic and are not prepared to just discard him without giving him the opportunity elsewhere .

Yep the very reason i'll be interested to see if Murphy gets back in this week after that insipid team performance v GWS .yeah, I do find it hard to drop Ed based on his effort when the major thing we lack is effort - not a great look to drop someone who puts in as much effort as Ed and leave players in who waltz around doing nothing and get a game.
As long as powerbrokers keep giving their fingers into football matters we'll just keep going around rounds again around Round like A record baby round round round roundI honestly view our current on field situation as the worst in the past 20 years when put into context.
2002 our talent pool was non-existent.
2015ish, again our list was trash and the debt was at all time high.
Right now, we are debt free and have significant numbers of talented players on the list, yet the output is horrendous.
Don't know where we go from here.
Support? After that? Are you kidding?
He deserved a clout around the earhole for that, not a pat on the back.
I'd imagine most team mates would've been quite frustrated with that... no good has ever come from players dishing out umpire abuse, whether right or wrong, it's the wrong thing to do and you'd expect far more from the bloke who's meant to be showing leadership.
The culture issue on display there wasn't the lack of support from other players - it was the childish remonstration from our captain.
Stupid. Not only because you shouldn't be doing it, but because if any umpire is going to ping you for it, it's Chamberlain.
The club is paying a steep price for letting the players appoint the coach
A bit sad that we see effort as a benchmark and not the execution of basic football skillsYep the very reason i'll be interested to see if Murphy gets back in this week after that insipid team performance v GWS .

Sad state of affairs when there's nothing wrong, but belief makes it so.Yeah but there’s no team spirit. I reckon they’re all frustrated snd don’t know how to fix it. Like a broken relationship
Carlton co-captain Patrick Cripps insists the Blues’ underwhelming season will not influence his decision to re-sign with the club, despite negotiations dragging on longer than expected.
Cripps, 26, his manager Tom Petroro and the Blues appeared close to agreeing to a lucrative four-year deal last month expected to be worth more than $800,000 a season, with the fine print said to have caused the delay. The salary cap for next season and beyond remains unclear because of the ongoing financial toll of the pandemic, with a new collective bargaining agreement needed from 2022 between the AFL and AFL Players Association.
Cripps guarantees he will re-sign but wants ‘everyone to get some feedback’ from club review
Carlton co-captain Patrick Cripps has opened up about his future and defended coach David Teague, but wants a wide-ranging review to provide honest feedback.www.theage.com.au
Out of Freo, WC and us I reckon we'd have the biggest offer still on the table.I'm quite sure he will re-sign. I'd imagine the ton of offers he had on the table ranging back to 2019 have slowly dried up, leaving him with few options now.
