Honestly not getting the Ladhams hate. He'd be a decent get. Ceiling is unknown but could be far higher, won't cost much in trade capital or contract and fills a need.

When Ladhams was being discussed here about a month ago, C4toTheDoor or whatever his name is(excellent poster and Port source) made a comment that he'd be better suited at StKilda. Now he may have meant as a ruckman on their list, but the feel i got was that he'd fit in alongside Crouch, Hanneberry, Carlisle, Hill(if ya get what i mean).

Now, i may have interpreted it right or wrong, but he's 23yo ruck getting regular games..........and he's on the market???

Personally i don't think he's much chop as a pure AFL player. But besides that, it may or may not be a bit of buyer beware.

Pretty happy with the probable recruitment of Geroge Hewett, a hard nut and tackling beast who automatically gives our midfield a more defensive edge.


At 450 K over 4 years, think its a sensible, almost bargain type of money-ball recruitment by us.

Fairly happy with how this off-season is panning out for our footy club so far.

I am so happy that we’re going to get Hewett. I get that he’s not a marquee signing or that fashionable a player, but he excels at the dirty work and loves to defend and tackle. Exactly what we need, as currently we’d likely all agree that our midfield is very one-way and not accountable. That will change with Hewett. Can get his own ball too - not just a negating player.
Still only 26 and it’s great to get him on an affordable deal (reportedly $400-450k per year for 4).

I'm wrapped we got this done early as, correctly or not, I feel seeing a player signing on to a club makes it more appealing if they too are considering a trade. Further trades appear to follow.
