I am going with the George Costanza theory of doing the opposite of what I normally do.
I never wanted Ratts sacked, but I supported Malthouse. I also was 100% on board with Bolton, and subsequently fully behind Teague getting the job. Where did that get us?
As much as I loved him as a player (always above Buckley and Hird for mine), I have never wanted Voss as a coach. Until now.
I will do the opposite and go against my natural instinct to want Clarko or Ross, and say bring on Vossy!

Foolproof theory.

Lol I was actually thinking the same thing.

Definitely worth a shot

At this rate we are going to be coached by the Idea of Clarko...
Like some kind of Norman Bates situation.

*Cripps looks at coaching box with a silhouette in it*

"What's that Clarko? you want us the play more defensively? oh ok!"

On his podcast on the AFL website, Voss isn’t over the line and his still not ruling out Clarko despite what he said last night .... 😂

I reckon Vossy should have a bed under his desk, walk around slapping his forehead, and make the players celebrate festivas...... now that's my kind of culture!

sounds like a cult follower - here, try this koolaid we just made, its different to the last one but better

I really liked and admired Voss the player and leader. I like the IDEA of him as a coach - making a team in his own image/with his attitude sounds great. From what I’ve seen he does not impress me as a Senior Coach because he’s just not a good enough communicator. I don’t buy the Crazy Vossy, it’ll be a disaster angle, either. I just am not sure he can do the job well.

If he’s what we get, though, I will of course support and hope he does a great job. I’m not sold, but that‘s neither here nor there. The problems our club - and therefore the solutions too - extend way past one person, even the senior coach. So if we get other parts right Voss may be able to play his part too.

That's very interesting. As much as the Purple Headed Warrior gets hate around here, he gets good access to clubs. But I can't keep clinging onto false hope.

And second - I'm glad we're talking about vintage bikes again. I had this one made by these guys (below). They're in Northcote - absolute bike nuts. It was my work bike. Now that I work at home with biggie footy, I ride it around the lounge while never watching 360 or FC. See yas.

They have a great workshop but overcharge massively for the bikes they sell.

They sell to the hipsters though and they love to overpay to look retro cool.

If voss has so called got the job, then that would surely be announced over the next couple of days wouldn’t it?

I reckon they will lock in a few of the assistants first.

Sayers and the board have definitely demonstrated so far they won't be pressured by the media to make announcements.

No. I don't believe this. Clarkson said last night that he had several discussions with his family to make his decision. He probably flip flopped from being keen to take the role and not. Huge decision for him. His family steered the decision (and rightly so!).

It was always a tough ask to compete with a 900k paid holiday on Jeff's dime, after 17 years in the box seat.
I also suspect we asked him about interest in taking a year off and committing to 23... because during 360 he iterated that he might never wish to coach again and won't be sure till he's sure.

The best coaches all seem to have similar characteristics. They are great communicators. They are wise, deep thinkers with a great understanding of people and philosophies. They captivate when they speak. I haven't seen that side of Voss, and i dare say its not something he's had to practice whilst being an assistant at Port.
Ross Lyon's brand is a bit mixed. He would have strong philosophies, and good understanding of people. He's high performance and all about continual improvement. However, he also can come across as self interested, perhaps owing to his departure from St Kilda. No coach seems perfect.
