Can't see Clarkson coming to us tbh and I don't blame him. Not that I was ever sold on him in the first place.

Asked whether he would hold interest in the Port Adelaide job, Clarkson said: “Nah nah, that’s disrespectful to Kenny, he’s still got 12 months on his job. I texted him tonight to let him know I’m coming across.”

That statement says it all for me, seeing as how Truck also still has 12 Months to go on his contract, Clarkson would come across as a massive flog to say one thing, yet burn another coach who is in the same position.

Besides, with the shitshow we've put on this week as a club, why would any experienced coach want to set foot in this cesspit of infighting and instability.

So who does that leave? Truck??? He would be advised to forego any $ for next year and run as fast as he can in the opposite direction. A rookie coach? They would be gone within 2 years. Hird??? I'm a massive Hird fan, but even I think that's a stupid idea

No matter the coach, we are going nowhere whilst we have so many off field issues that need fixing before our coach. Total clean out required

So how many more years is this going to set us back? What a ******* nightmare!!!

Clarko and Hinkley may have a personal relationship that he felt like giving him the heads up .. Maybe just let it play out instead of playing 4D chess with yourself

The Sonja Wood clip sounded a lot like they are confident which leaves us i a bit of a pickle. How very Essendon.
Maybe? Her body language was confident but the 'we presented well to him, he presented well to us' is the kind of thing you say exiting a job interview for mine.

Leadership and culture is literally one of the KPIs of any CEO in an organisation.

I read he's pretty good at the commercial stuff, but so what if he's terrible at everything else including key football department appointments.

Similar to Liddle for us last year. Seemed like a bit of a snake oil salesman...good talker, did well for us commercially but there were conflicts and culture issues. Probably had an ego and was more about himself than improving others...Campbell gives off the same vibe.

He's been the one leadership constant for a long period of time...
plenty of good commercial CEO's running good football programs though.
and we're plenty decent on the money front. Not sure it would be possible for a CEO to get us in dire straits on that front

Campbell was our COO & GM of projects when we undertook the drugs program
At 34 was CEO when we were fighting Asada. We were at odds over Bomber or Hird at the end of that year. Brought Hird back and lost Bomber, then sacked Hird. Poached Worsfold, then Rutten, now Clarkson? In each case we've pissed off the guy in the seat with the move for who's next.

Covid hub issues
Daniher handling
Talk of behavioural issues at a xmas party.
A respected indigenous leader in Nova Peris leaves the long walk foundation over him

Much like Dodoro, he's last a long time in a role without necessarily delivering more than middle of the road results.

North are literally no better off.... have you conveniently forgotten north sacked a coach 38 games into his career and their fans have been trying to overthrow the board

It's called lip service. I mean what else is she going to say? "Um no we don't believe Alistair will be coaching North next year?"

This thread is a roller coaster. Ppl need to get a grip. Thing is I wish I could believe the club knows what it's doing. But I don't. The right thing is to give Rutten a few more years. To address the cultural problems will take years and that's with the right ppl. Not 2 like Rutten had had up until this point. Clarkson to North would be good for Essendon. Stick with Rutten and do the review and get rid of the cancer in the club.

Campbell was COO for six months before being appointed to the vacant CEO role, which had been left vacant for him after a proper process revealed no candidates. This was in december 2013 through mid-2014.

Prior to his six months as COO he was in a lower role elsewhere:

Everyone needs to calm down. Why would Clarkson wait until Friday to announce? North already sacked their coach. The fact he has pushed back their original timeline is more likely due to the fact he's finalising the Essendon offer to make sure it aligns so not to shoot himself in the foot. He's going to Essendon because North are an irrelevant crap show with 5 members that can't sustainably exist in their home state. Theres no comparison.

I also don't get the Tassie incentive. As if Clarkson would want the eventual club of his home state to be a Victorian hand me down...its ridiculous.

All she’s really said is that the process went as well as it could and the ball is in his court.

She specifically said they wanted to know if they needed to find a plan B, which indicates they’re not 100% certain of him even after reports that GWS bowed out.

She seems like a nice person doing a good job and I won’t slight her for that, but speaking diplomatically really doesn’t reveal much except that they still don’t know any better than the rest of us, they’re a little nervous, and they’ve made it known to him that they’re a little nervous.

Or it’s just due dilligence.

If he wasn’t considering anything else he’d be announced for North already, but if he definitely wasn’t going to North he would’ve told them and they’d be pursuing something else.
