MODS the merging of these threads has cocked it up. "New" posts are being inserted into the middle of the thread, not at the end.

So if the club is found guilty, there is no team for the players to play in, so how is there "no player infractions"?

The club IS the players.

But the players can go elsewhere now

Great news and a relief we can poach dons players

it's a huge step forwards mate. IMO it pretty much means exactly that, so...
Lance. How could they have charged any player tonight?
We know ASADA did not name ANY individual player in their interim report. Naming of players if any, will be done on the final report after charges are laid by ASADA.
Read carefully the statement by the AFL that you quoted. You forget to bold out the most important bit "attributed to any individual player".

I have read that statement completely differently to you. In many ways, I hope you are correct, but I don't think you are....

Essendon fans...these people live in a bubble, they can't think for themselves. They are emotionally attached to the view that our club purposely tried to cheat. You will never be able to sway them. They are like the people who still think Iraq had WMD's and that the Earth is flat (Flat Earth Society...real group).

Mother of Gawd, we knew a week ago The AFL were never going to issue individual player sanctions based on the interim report, why are some people still carrying on about this?

The AFL doesn't have enough info to go on by and can not rely on circumstantial evidence, unlike ASADA and WADA.

So why mention it, if you were the AFL, before issuing if/any infringement notices the afl is required to wait til the completion of the asada report.

Basically the stated that all indications point to no infringement notices being issued. Maybe I'm looking at it the wrong way but before tonight I was probably 80% certain with jobe admission, a 9 month investigation and invoices and innuendo that infringement notices would be issued, now I'm 80% certain they wont.

I honestly dont know why they wont be issued as to complex for me I guess but surely you admit that even impartially tonight (appears) to be a small win for essendon

Essendon supplements scandal: rolling updates

Follow AFL.com.au's Mark Macgugan LIVE as the AFL prepares to hand down a verdict on the Essendon supplements saga.

  1. 8pm: Head of WADA John Fahey has spoken to AFL.com.au's Nathan Schmook. On the possibility of Essendon players receiving infraction notices, he said:
"I think there's some distinct chance in the end that might happen, but they (ASADA) have to dot their Is and cross their Ts.
"These things just simply take time. I can't tell you how long it will take.
"The sad thing about it, as all of us who love sport saw, this thing had the cart before the horse.
"You only know there's a problem when ultimately charges are laid or enquiries are concluded and a statement is issued."
Nathan will have the full story from his interview with Fahey up on the website very soon.

What Fahey is conveying with that sentence is that WADA needed to wait until charges were laid before they step in and make their voice known.

WADA couldn't very well come in and comment specifically on EFC players and their cases, they need to wait for a report to be tabled, and then they have their input.

So when the final report gets tabled, and its states that EFC players took AOD, and even if ASADA don't recommend infractions, WADA will have the ammunition to make their appeal.

Basically WADA need a tabled report stating that EFC players took banned substances before they can then demand that those players be sanctioned for contravening the code. Without the report, WADA don't have any official evidence to push forward, so they just need to sit tight and wait.

Under the AFL doping code not the ASADA code.
That is mighty big difference

Basically, 8 months in and ASADA doesn't have enough evidence to give infraction notices. Steven Dank just said again on radio he WILL NOT be interviewed by ASADA which is the reason the ASADA report was interim.

Direct quote from Dillon tonight (emphasis mine):

"On the information before the AFL" = the interim ASADA report.

He was very careful to make sure he noted that the ASADA report is ongoing.

Players are not in the clear Lance.
What exactly do you expect the puppets at ASADA et al to say?

'Yeah, truth is we can't do jack shit. Hopefully the AFL hits the club hard because we can't touch the players'.

???

The puppets are dancing like puppets dance. No more. No less.

We either cheated or we didnt. I took the statement that after 9 month of investigating the strongest indications that the AFL has is that we didnt.

So of course bomber supporters are going to see this as win.

I thought you bomber peons were the experts on all this stuff? ;)
Bombres? I still don't see how WADA compels the AFL to do anything. OR how WADA reaches a conclusion without evidence from ASADA. Are they conducting their own investigation?

When does the ASADA investigation conclude again? What more will they find?

The AFL also advised that in relation to Essendon players, although WADA has declared AOD-9604 is a banned substance, on the information before the AFL there is no specific Anti-Doping Rule violation attributed to any individual player for use of AOD-9604 or any other prohibited substance.

That is they key phrase. They can't pin point who took what. Considering Dank has said he has kept detailed records, I'm sure ASADA are going to wait until after the have made him testify before issuing any infractions (if any) against the players.
And under ASADA's new coercive powers he can be compelled to produce documents and electronic even if he says nothing in his testimony.
