Anyones thoughts on Baranduda pulling their A grade side out of the comp mid year? Personally i think they should have stuck it out as they weren't the worst side in the competition. Howlong has endured many season's of thumping's yet front up year in, year out. If success was the measuring stick of the comp there would be only 5 sides (New City, Raiders, Kiewa, Mt. Beauty and Brny/Chiltern). West Wodonga went through a similar thing 3 years ago but chose to stick the year out. However, due to no support from the council they had little choice but to merge or fold. Maybe they might have to consider moving back into town in the short term (eg. to Willow Park) and train at Mitchell H.S., while they are in the process of building decent facilities out there. At least they will be able to recruit from the Albury/Wodonga region as their numerous amount of juniors from the Baranduda area aren't ready to play senior cricket.
After a lot of good work this year this was a bad decision of the board in letting Baranduda get away with doing this.
Having said that it seems typical of the club when the going gets tough the tough drop to B Grade. You are absolutely right in saying Howlong endured punishment for years (and you could say to some extent still are) but they tough it out each week and were unlucky not to be rewarded with a win late last year.
My advice is strongly support juniors with smart people running the club in the junior dept, but they are not easy to come accross. Once Paragon always Paragon..............

ok baranduda are stuffed at this stage. does the league want 8 sides in each division.clubs will have to merge to survive or just fold. you have to give bethanga alot of credit.they do a really great job in fielding 2 sides in a and b grade each year. cricket is getting harder and more expensive for clubs.maybe CAW should have alook at what's happened over the past 5 years and where clubs are now. it's not always about a'grade with clubs struggling in the lower grades which makes the standard drops off. juniors are the heart and soul of any clubs but if they don't get the right coaching they find other sports to play.

I think its time CAW kicked Provincial clubs out of the B District competition, unless they can supply a turf wicket it makes a mockery of the comp. Having to play on carpet at Norris Park and Collins Park with no decent change rooms and facilities to store arvo tea, drinks etc is a joke and drags the standard right down. Having played in the old WDCA at least all clubs (with the exception of Barny/Chiltern) played on turf in both grades.

you would think there would be enough turf grounds around for b'grade district to play on.what's the go with willow park. it looks like new city will go up but who will play the in the final. there's a fair gap between them and the rest. still waiting on what CAW will do with the baranduda thing regarding points.they seem to be travelling well in b and c grade. mmmmmmmm waiting in see.also heard that the top 4 sides in c'grade from each division play off in the finals. what's the point that's why there's 2 divisions.another wait in see. are belvoir done and dusted wait and see what Yack can do this week.:confused:

Very interested to hear how reggie and the toecutter are going in the runs and wickets this year. also interested how the little beard bernie is travelling. just wondering how many turf wickets are free in the comp. i see willow park is free but are there any other one free for another district b grade team. i agree that if you cant provide a turf wicket in both a and b grades in provincial and district, BARNY/CHILTERN!!!! any thoughts

well another season done and dusted. I mite the white in the bags until next summer......so the raiders did pretty well considering all the exits from last season.so close to a grand final.Let's see who goes where over winter and see who finds a bit more neville. just wondering if CAW will pull a rabbit out of the bag and upset clubs with the way the season will be structered next year.:confused:
