Re: brad ebert rejects geelong

Neil Balme said he doesn't know who Brad Ebert is...haha

I think that might say more about Neil Balme, than it does about Ebert ?

Let's face it, is it a good idea to go around shouting about the player(s) you might be after ?

My trade prediction is Ebert + Pick 45 for Pick 28 + Pick 33 - just for the record.:)

I don't think that will happen, but if it does, I would allow them to move up with all our later picks too, we probably won't need them.

Re: brad ebert rejects geelong

probably should be in the trade mega thread but geelong made a big play for him and he has turned it down, i guess good on him for sticking to his word as he isnt just chasing success

Pretty obvious that when he initally picked port he wasnt chasing success.

i wonder if they would do pick 28 and then upgrades to our 2nd/3rd rounders

Port wont give us 28 its obvious that they are wanting to hold on to that pick to get a ruckman.

We may not like how they are treating us, but the reality is that they know they have the upper hand, if both parties dont do a deal there is a very good chance they will pick him up for nothing via the PSD.

If we get 33 thats about as good as its going to get.

Sad but true.

Gunston got pick 24 and a couple of other upgrades. There is no way that Ebert is worth less than Gunston. We have already come down a lot to pick 28. To backtrack again to pick 33 - it really has little to no value in this draft - plus we will lose a lot of face and look like pushovers at the trade table. If Port won't trade pick 28 then tell them to get stuffed and try their luck in the PSD. Pick 33 is not even close to a make or break pick. We can do without pick 33.

I would prefer we spoke to Ebert and pointed out that it appears Port doesn't value him as a player, so we can't make a trade. Now, does he really want to sell the club out and go in to the PSD? I would think there is a good chance he re-signs if not just for a year.

Looks like Port Adelaide are dealing with a third party so they can send pick 33 to the third club and the third club sends a player to West Coast and Ebert off to Port Adelaide.

Would be very happy with that player is Macaffer.

Ebert to PA for 33 & 51

Pick 51 to WB for Hill

Leaves us with picks 23, 33 & 45.

Bones, Wilson, Dalziell delisted.

Hams upgraded.

If we want to use 3 picks in the ND I can see us rookie listing Neates.

Minimal as usual.

5 List changes is hardly minimal. Would rather use three picks, upgrade Hams and keep Neates.

It is when it includes internal changes.

Eh. Four looks smaller when it includes internal changes.

Trading in a dud like Hill for a dud like Wilson is circle work. As long as we use all three picks then i guess getting J.H isn't going to mean all that much.

Im not exactly sure who we might get at 45. But if some other types are gone i want Murrey Newman, i have Christensen like visions going on.:thumbsu:

So you rate Ebert on par with Macaffer?

what about tyson goldsack?? i mentioned in another thread he's the sort of player that could really fit into our team. and i rate him pretty highly.

he'd be worth more than pick 33 though...

i'd well swap our first pick (~23) for TS.

My post was not what I want to happen, it is what I think will happen.

Murray Newman should be around the 45 mark and I like him too, btw you have spelt Murray wrong at least 3 times now in previous posts.

I don't have a problem drafting Hill if we use a nothing pick, he probably won't improve his weaknesses, but as I see it, we are short in genuine goal kicking forwards and I would rather him on our list than list cloggers like Dalziell etc who offer us nothing in a role in which we have plenty of players who have surpassed him.

Point is we make minimum changes every year in trade week and haven't drafted deep into the draft for a long time.

I would think/hope there would be more complexity to a 3-way trade than this.

If Port go off any buy some player for pick 33 and then give him to us, then that's the same as if they just gave us pick 33 and we traded for that player directly ourselves.

I see a three way trade happening because 33 isn't enough and Port need to increase 33's value with the addition of a Port player (none of which the Eagles want).

So I think it would be more like this:

Port: out: 33 + Port Player in: Ebert
Eagles: out: Ebert in: Unknown club's player
Unknown club: out: Unknown club's player in: 33 + Port player
