Toast Brad Sheppard (2010 - 2021)

Been a bit behind in the Shep man's player thread.
But that ends now.

R16: Colling has no wood.

Absolutely smashing the pies, there really is nothing better. Except smashing Carltank. But regardless, it was a clinical performance by the boys in blue and gold as we continue on our climb up the mountain. Again Sheppard was excellent, racking up 9 marks with 2 being contested, 5 1%'ers and showing off just how good he is. Shepp continues to impress, hell there's a thread on the main board nowadays singing his praises. Foolish mortals saw past Commander Sheppard, but not this chap. I believed, and Shep is now delivering in SPADES.

Round 17: Controversy as Goodes boo'ed

Lots of controversy over the booing of our favourite Indigenous player in Goodes. I personally don't care about booing, I doubt that 90% of the people booing are because he's aboriginal, but that's not what we're here for. Sheppard played probably the best game of his career. He was absolutely sublime in defense, winning just about every 1 on 1 he was engaged in, showing his customary beautiful kicking and silky skills. With 23 disposals, it was a season high for Commander Sheppard, who is absolutely killing it now. Would have to be right up there in best and fairest, and most improved player in the competition.

He was so damn good, WCE had to put the man in the news.

Round 18:

Pitiful performance. Yuck. Revolving. A draw that felt like a loss. But there is always hope in the darkness...

Round 19: Close loss to Hawks

It was a strong effort from the Eagles. Fought valiantly, led by Commander Sheppard. He was prolific in the air, his contested marking having gone leaps and bounds, his overhead aerial skills too much to handle. But it wasn't enough, as the Eagles fell short to a strong Hawks side. Eagles will look to bounce back against the filthy Docker foes, and Sheppard can't wait to get another crack at the purple scum.

I gotta say.
It's been one hell of a season.
And even though it'll be coming to an end soon, and we may fall short.
2015, was the year of Commander Shepard.

West Coast have cast aside the hapless pretenders in the Doggies, dispatched the Purple Scum. Sheppard has been sublime in both, his overhead marking now a feature in his game. It's been an almost perfect season for Shep. He's done little wrong, once again solidified himself as a Best 22 Player, and is week in week out destroying his opponents and keeping them quiet.

Sheppard V Saints: 2EZ4RTZ

It's been a hell of a year for Sheppard. Once again Reminiscence has shown the chops of his sponsorship, leading Commander Sheppard to the promised land. Once again, Sheppard was excellent. Sheppard controlled the backline like a well seasoned machine, defending, attacking, marking, spoiling. It was a complete game from the Commander, and he has shown why he is one of the rising stars of the competition.

Season Review:

Sheppard has been prolific this entire season. Came in with huge question marks, but it's easily said that he is a Lock for Best 22. Often playing on much bigger & much taller opponents, he's shown an ability to fight against the best, and to mess with the rest. His overhead marking is now a key factor to his development, developing into that excellent 3rd man marker that is so often described as the forte of the Eagles. His numbers, while not electrifying do not show the impact this young man has had for our football team. I am proud to have sponsored Sheppard for 2015, and here's to a big 2016 to the SHEP MAN!
FINALS HERE WE COME.

FINALS: EAGLES STOMP HAWKS

In an absolute CLINICAL display, Eagles took the game by the scruff of the neck in the 2nd quarter and never looked back. Commander Sheppard was sublime, his spoiling and defensive work outstanding, while also took the game on when needed, showing his trademark burst of speed and sublime skills. The Commander also showed excellent IQ in letting a ball bounce towards him, winning the 50 metres and slotting an important goal. Finished with only 13 disposals and 5 marks, but his presence was felt everywhere; his 7 1%'ers a testament to his defensive effort and workrate.

Grand Final: Eagles fall short.

It's bitter. It's painful. It absolutely sucks. But we got 1 step away from glory. Who would of thought we would of made it this far. To get to the grand final, to give us all hope.

With the final game of the season over, it's time for a short exhortation before I close off Shep's sponsorship for 2015.

It was a hell of a year for Shepp. Turned it on. Got better out of sight. Simply came to play.

The biggest improvement is purely confidence. He always had the ability to play well, he was just tentative, shell-shocked even at the highest level. What we saw in 2014 were glimpses of what the Commander could become, and this season he showed it. The ability to never body and engage an opponent, in order to be able to spoil showed excellent understanding of his body and who he is. He knew in just about every contest he was in, that he was smaller, shorter and weaker than his opponent. And instead of getting into a wrestling match that he knew he couldn't win, he would peel off, then jump and spoil consistently.

Another thing that really shone was Sheppard's overhead marking. He was never a good overhead mark from memory, but watching him float in, clunking ball after ball was a sight to see. His contested marking had really improved as a 3rd man up. It shows that there has been good development into him from that side of things, and hopefully guys like Gaff can replicate Sheppard's improvement in this area.

Regardless, we sign off 2015 with a Hail to the Commander. What a hell of a year you had.
