Tscharke are one of our regulars. Been members for many years. Is a shame they shut the cellar door but the new wine bar there is awesome.
Yeah. Some special glassware and the peacocks coming in sometimes is fun.

The old cellar door was cool.

Wine is still awesome. Love their stonewall stuff and the monte is amazing

Cause you don’t have the draft capital to get it over the line?
This is exactly what North supporters were telling us last year, and they were wrong too. Except they at least could have had a reasonable point, because they were talking about a contracted future superstar, and not a bog average uncontracted KPD who would probably make it to 37 in the draft for us if we don't get a trade done anyway.

will do. wont be back til march/april. too hot for reds in summer :p
Yeah, I'm drinking whites tonight as too hot... & I'm usually a red drinker.

MSV have some powerful reds. Compare their Greenock v Gumersal Shiraz.

Yeah, good luck with that.

You hunt after a player, you have to pay up. It’s not Essendon’s fault that Port have given away a lot of their picks due to JHF.

And if you want to risk walking BZT through a shallow draft like this, ****ing good luck.

Now, I don’t believe Essendon will ask for a first round pick, but at least a ready made player that will slot into our starting 22. Not some soon to be delisted player.

Either miss out on BZT or get him free in psd. Sounds like a win either way.

No way port kick out a contracted player for someone who’s out of contract. Just doesn’t make sense.

BZT is barely best 22 in a pretty average Bombers team. I reckon he will be ranked at Port between 18-30.

I also think he has reached his natural talent ceiling but with the right development and system should be a consistent B Grade Contributor.

Yes this is exactly what the North fans were all saying last year too. I've been here before. You'll be wrong just like they were.

How will I be wrong? Paying up will be either a player or a pick within the 20’s, in my opinion. That’s how it will get done.

And all this talk about walking him in the pre season draft is hilarious. Won’t happen.

Come on now he’s the second or 3rd best defender in a decidedly below average Essendon side who’s constantly played out of position and under seige due to a lack of a real KPD and stupid turnovers by other people.

He’s a classic buy low/rescue from a bad team candidate that a smart team should pounce on.

Realistically he’s worth a similarly aged/quality best 22 player or a decent 2nd round pick. Given port need picks to get SavRat I’d suspect it would benefit both teams if Essendon added an Asset to Zerk to get something of higher value in return

Maybe something like Zerk + Future 2nd to Port for a Future First or a wanted player.

He's missed one game through injury since round 16 last year. He's best 22

What do you actually think will happen to get BZT and ER?

Future second for Esava, 37 for BZT. If either club wants to push their player to the PSD rather than accept either of those entirely reasonable offers for uncontracted players of Esava and BZT's quality, hopefully we chance our luck with the PSD instead.

If it were me, I would possibly be willing to give up some small change to get Esava, who while certainly not a complete player at least has some really good attributes that could make him a high quality player with more experience down back. I wouldn't give up one future sixth rounder more than pick 37 for BZT, and I wouldn't be upset if that meant he ultimately ended up elsewhere in the PSD.

Not an elite one on one defender, not an elite interceptor, not an elite rebounder. Just a bog standard state league level KPD who managed to find his way to 50 AFL games because he happened to be drafted by a club with garbage KPD stocks at the time. Faced with the recruitment of McKay and the development of Reid and Baldwin, I'm pretty confident he wouldn't be best 22 for the Bombers next year if he stayed there. In fact if I was picking Essendon's team I would have already had Baldwin in the side over him for the second half of this year too.

Oh and by the way before somebody comes back with 'oh but the PSD never happens!', you're right, but you're wrong about why you're right. The reason the PSD doesn't happen 95% of the time isn't because 95% of the time the club buying the uncontracted player 'pays up', it's because 95% of the time the club stuck with the uncontracted player who wants out just takes what they can get for him. Which is why this deal will happen for #37 and very little if anything more.

The pick will be 30s or 40s with some late pick swaps or a non 22 player to save face.

Yeah, both of those teams have picks before Port in the PSD.

It'll be 37 and change.
