Essendon supporters turning on him, but still worth a first round pick :D

This moment from Round 1 told me BZT would never win a big final for Essendon. Because Essendon and finals….. you know I wonder if Essendon and finals are the same person… because you never see them in the same room together.

Squeeze them Port

Even though a straight swap seems fairer 🤣🤣🤣
Good to finally see some commentary on Duursma staying. I don't think it will happen, but I personally do hope we keep him and find a way to get BZT in the draft.

Is Jon Ralph an Essendon fan? In what world does a straight swap seem fair.

1 is a contracted, superior and younger player, his value is thus significantly higher. Kidding yourself to think anything else.

Age makes a big difference. Even if they were equivalent players, BZT in theory has 2 less years of value he will offer to Port given his age. Thus if say Duursma could play 10 years, we're talking maybe 8 for BZT. That's a 20% reduction in value that we get from BZT. So even if we considered them equal as players, and totally ignored the contract status, that 20% difference would be reflected in additional trade value coming Ports way.

BZT +35 for Duursma feels bang on the money. If we have to we can probably throw a pick that really has no value back like 72, but effectively in terms of trade value it's basically 2x30ish picks (BZT probably worth that) for a pick 20 type situation and that seems balanced all round.

How must Essendon feel?

BZT: I will walk to Port if you can't get a deal done.

Duursma: I will stay at Port if you can't get a deal done

Essendon: We didn't blink!

I also like how in the sentence right before big Ralphy explains one of the reasons that Duursma is objectively worth more than BZT.

It's like Ports are the only team with a dire need to improve their list, so they must pay whatever it takes (to coin an Essendon cliche) in all their trades.

The other aspect to this standoff is that in 12 months we all know where Duursma’s brother landed. If it isn’t Essendon, there is every chance Zane’s new club at least asks the question about whether X may like to join his bother.

Essendon may lose BZT and Duursma for nothing.

There's a better brother still to come.
