Maynard is an absolute star and had a great feeling with him the moment he was drafted.
He is one of the few players at the club that will fly the flag for the club when required, passionate and a gun. To me, he has captain material all over him.
One of the few positives from this season, as he hasn't gone backwards like so many others.
We need harder players at the club, it was infuriating seeing Brisbane treat us like boys last night.

I love him, but I think Moore would also make a great Captain. Those two as C and VC would be like fire and ice, but neither any less elite than the other
I think they would complement one another and while some say Moore is a glamour boy, I think that he puts his body on the line more than most in our team.

Only problem with the maynartaur isn’t that we don’t have 4 of him.

I still remember people bagging him early doors. For me, And I’m definitely no expert, it was as clear as the balls on a bulldog, the kid had it. Strength, big hoof, grit and determination. That’s why they pumped him full of games - even if he’d have the odd clanger or 2.

I’d go as far as to say he’s been our best player this year. He hasn’t really played a bad game, and he’s monstered opponents while being offensive too.

I’ve said this before, if 42 is ever to come out of retirement, he needs to get it...

His efforts Yesterday, while clearly hampered, show the character of this great young bull. His aggression, barrelling through the bears, was sight to behold. I would have loved to play along side this bloke. Legend.

I think he will be vying with Adams and Pendles. The only game he clearly lowered his colours was against Toby Greene.

That game wasn’t as bad as everyone makes out. Greene kicked some arsey goals. Maynard was one of our best offensively that game.

I just had a quick look at the numbers. And your summary seems to jog a bit of the old memory.
Maynard still had 20+ touches. And I do recall green kicking some bullshit goals.

I was with you SM. I recall one poster, probably in Maynard’s first season, suggesting that his/her six year old daughter could play better. Will they own up now?

He was frustrating in those early games, but the coaches (who do know something) recognised the good that would come from pumping games into him. We are benefitting from that now.

I remember. We’ve had reaped the rewards of watching the young calf mature into the big bull in the paddock.

Agreed. People often confuse not being a mongrel with not being tough. Moore is tough as nails and always give multiple efforts

He does have a bit of the old Millane Swagger about him eh?

It wasn't all that hard a decision at the time. I think from memory I was saying he isn't ready but given many of our alternative options weren't available for selection I was very happy to see us pump games into him.

That would be one mean 6 year-old girl. Wouldn't want to mess with her now

Never really thought we'd have someone to fit No. 42, could be on the money.

You'd have to ask Mrs. Pants first

Maynard would get 10 clearances a game if he played in the middle. Unfortunately we can't afford to move him away from the backline

I dont remember anyone saying this about Rhino Maynard (if they did say it, maybe i ignored them?)...in fact from the start he was projected as a bull enforcer type and hence the nick Rhino. Pretty sur ethe start of this thread even has rhino pics just after he debuted.

I think there were people saying he was too aggressive just like Grundy. Thank fork the club didnt neuter him like they have done to Grundy's aggression.

Only need to watch his game vs Melbourne a few years back to see he would develop into a genuine midfield gun...alas everyone's about sending your best mids and fwds to defense.

Reminds me of Billy maddison O'doyle's rule...defense rules go defense!

I don't think a player can be too aggressive. Their issue was more about when and where they used it. It's 1 thing to be hard at the footy or an opponent, it's another entirely to give away silly frees. Both exercise a lot more discretion these days although Maynard was pushing the boundaries against Robbo.

Why the **** is the worst kick in the team taking kick outs from full back, especially as he doesn't even play on the opposition full forward?
He's improved a lot this year, but comparing him to Darren Millane, jeez.

Kicking efficiency over 80 percent, that would make him one of our best kicks in the team. He had an off night. I’m only guessing that corky he received was still giving him discomfort . I unlike you will back him in this week. Love him, amazing competitor, only beaten once this year from a pretty good player in Green.

It’s funny though there are only a few players I feel confident with ball in hand and he’s one of them.
