Yes but Geelong lying is no worse than Hird lying. I don't see how one is worse than the other.

Not saying that one is worse than the other just saying Geelong would be admitting to it when they dont have to.

Hird categorically denied that Essendon had approached Bomber. Don't see how that is any better credibility wise.

He did say that a week or two ago. No reason why Hird cant come out tomorrow and say "I spoke to Bomber today and he accepeted my offer". Then every one can dance to the happy dance.

People might not believe the story and it could be the truth as far as we know, but who cares? Just saying that it doesnt doscount anything Geelong will more than likely sit back because they cant do anything about it.

Cbf aknowledging the rest of the post.

Yes he can say that but if the truth is going to come out that Geelong knew he was quitting to go to Essendon, surely then the truth that Hird spoke to him prior to quitting Geelong. Those two things both effectively have to happen together for them to be plausible. He can't quit to join Essendon if he hasn't been spoken to.

I don't believe that Geelong would just cop it if they cared. Surely there would be bad blood and they wouldn't have made such an agreement (if it exists at all) if it served no purpose. That being said, I don't think Geelong seem to really even care, by what is being written and said, it sounds like he was getting demoted to being a development coach rather than a match day senior coach. I think the senior is in relation to "AFL side" rather than first 3 years coach not being Essendon's senior assistant.

As I said, I don't think he is bad but not worth causing a storm over like Bomber is.

If it does come out that Hird or any Essendon offical approached Bomba whislt he was under contract to take the job at Essendon then Geelong has a case to take to the AFL for tampering.

Tampering with what? Heads of companys are poached all the time and given job offers whilst under contract. Hardly doing anything wrong if thats what we did.
A contract cannot stop a person from exploring future employment oppurtunities post said contract surely. Doubly, any contract allowing someone a "get out" clause is flimsy at best.

He is a coach, not a player. Rules are surely different.

But it wasn't post said contract it was for the contracted period

So what. Geelong restricting him from future employment oppurtunities post contract is actually restraint of trade. Any employee is entitled to talk too and line up employment for when the current contract ends.
Right now I am contracted to finish a job for a building company, I have spoken to and arranged another job for right after that, and so on. It would be stupid of anyone to not have their ducks lined up when it comes to employment. If I waited until the end of each contract to find another, I would miss out, and have no wage for greater periods.

Essendon will have done nothing wrong.

Oh gee now we're scared!

If Thompson wants to explore his future options and chat in-detail about them, there is nothing wrong with that. He could have brushed us off if indeed we approached him first (probably did/will), but it will/has been a decision of his own. Time to toughen up me thinks CA, happens regularly in the workplace; and football is no different (a business).

Tampering, please.

BTW when you post on here about Mark Thompson it is Bomber, not Bomba. Keep that crap on the Geelong board.

Wait for the grudge match when Bomber arrives at Windy Hill. They'll have to move that match to the G just to accommodate the bigger crowd.

Incidently, I hope our new look coaching panel smashes the crap out of our boys during the off season. These boys need to learn what hard work really means to match it with the best.
