Craig Willis is the third Syd Barker MC I've seen, and the best by a country mile. Thought he was excellent last night - utterly professional and respectful of both the Hall of Fame and the Syd Barker count. We were having a decent laugh about the Boomer thing on our table - turned what could have been a very dry count (remember it's 22 games with at least 6 names per game) into something quite funny, without being trivial or disrespectful.

Tony Charlton was funny when he did it - but not in a good way at all.

As I said he is the best going around, no question.:thumbsu:

Well everyone on our table was in hysterics every time he did it. Sorry to hear you had such a miserable night. Craig Willis is king.

By the way GoKangas and Horace, Tony Charlton last year? You might want to check your memory bank. Craig Willis did it last year. Not sure who was the year before. I think we've had Stephen Phillips somewhere in between. Tony Charlton did it about 4 years ago. That was not a good night.

Mate, I was only really responding to what GoKangas said. I know he did it recently but I wouldn't have a clue when he did it. I just recall thinking at the time it was pretty amazing that he was still doing that work.

Yes Tony is excellent at his work.

I was amazed that he got the gig though last year, as he must be well and truly getting on age wise. When I was a kid back in the 1950's, he used to do a Football show on a Saturday night, on 3UZ I think, called the London Stores Show.

Anyone else remember London Stores? Come to think of it anyone else remember the 1950's?

London Stores - on the corner of Elizabeth and Bourke.

Leviathan (where I worked with Geoff Blethyn and no he didn't wear those taped on glasses when he was selling menswear) was on the corner of Bourke and Swanston.

I don't remember the 50s (and I'm a liar).

As for comperes, I agree with giantroo - Colby is excellent (and a true North person and a football person and not a "Wally").

This reminds me of the spruiker Borders on Pitt St Mall had for the week leading up to the release of 'Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince'. Was hilarious. Every time he would say the title of the novel he would say it normally except he would say blood in a 'spooky' voice ie. "Bloooo-oooood".

And he would say it every minute of every (work)day for a week.

Now I only know the title one way.

Shane Clayton was boomer.

For his blistering speed
