Yep and he's already acknowledged how he will partner Scharen through their recovery. It worked very well for Caff and Krak in 2012 so let's help the boys as much as we can and look forward to their returns in late 2015.

and to hear that Caff put’s in 100% for the Club. He could be a Great Role Model for young Scharanberg

Went through this myself with a mate, we both did ours in consecutive weeks and its so much easier to stay motivated and even in an odd wau distracted by having someone else going through the same struggles at the same time with you.

All the best Caff.

Why have we not seen more off this in the AFL Krak came back early and was pretty effective seems safer then Lars
I don't know the answer to that, perhaps the type of damage varies, hence different methods of surgery??
Complete knee reconstruction v an ACL replacement??

Just a tragic fortnight for the Collingwood Football club. To lose Scharenberg and Macaffer for the entire 2015 season is just horrible.

My bigger concern though is that we enter the season 2 players short on the list, and we've seen this year the importance of depth.

Don't know what we are going to do about that.
Well Krak made it back in 7 mths (although not sure if the his ACL was 'different' in any way).
Caff also was in full training with Krak by August 2012, however however couldn't get back on the field, hence the club ruled him out for the finals. Krak played the last round plus all 3 finals (kicked 4 against the Hawks).
Both did their ACL in Feb.
If Schazz & Caff can get back within 9 mths then June/July VFL may be possible.
Brown was also on track to return within the season in 2011, until he did his patella (he also did his ACL in Feb).

The club has a very good recent record for fast & strong recovery from ACL injuries (Krak, McCaff, Brown, Ball, Keeffe).
So I'm confident both players will be back next year.

Nb now the club has to fix/improve our soft tissue injury incidence & recovery

True. Remember Krak returning in 2012 and having a huge impact. And all the players that have had ACL's haven't seemed to have any other problems with that knee...

Soft tissue is the real issue. Similar issue happened at essendon when they were taking the drugs
