Toast Brent Renouf

If one average journeyman can get a toast thread for one good quarter, Renouf deserves one for two good weeks.

Has had 42 hitouts two weeks in a row after having a career high of 31 up until that game, and he's done some important things around the ground which aren't fully reflected by the stats sheet.

Jay Schulz started slowly for us, but kicked a career high 7 against North a couple of months into the season and went on with it from there. Hopefully Renouf's career high hitout game against North results in him doing the same, because it would be nice to stop getting thrashed in the ruck every week.

Was unlucky not to make my votes tbh. He was fantastic today. Losing the clearances early was due to a hesitant midfield rather than a poor showing in the ruck. Competed all day and is getting better by the week.

I thought Renouf was unfairly maligned around here after his first few games. Nice to see things happening. Would still prefer to see he and Redden/Lobbe play together while Renouf plays forward when resting

42 hitouts 2 weeks in a row is huge really. We were obviously after him for along time and thought he had all the tools. Maybe Hawthorn let him go too quickly?

His disposal needs a bit of work tho... just play the percentages

Still only 24, has a premiership medal in his keep and his 2010 was as good a year for age as any developing ruckman bar the elite freaks of years gone by.

Would prefer he had Redden or Lobbe riding shotgun, though.

Our rucks could be a lot better had they had another ruckman supporting them. We need Redden/Lobbe to develop more as a forward so we can play 2 instead of persisting with Stewart

Need Redden in for Stewart. Would offer a million times more around the ground atm.

This. Lobbe or Redden to come in for Stewart and we will have much better midfield presence.

Renouf was very solid today. Getting hitouts and slowly starting to put them to advantage. I'm still concerned with the way that our mids set-up so defensively behind their men.

If Renouf and Redden can start winning hit-outs, then surely it's time for our centre-square mids to rove to them a bit more.

I also love the fact that Renouf often goes the big punch forward. I had missed seeing that in recent seasons.

Can't fault him over the last 2 weeks. Has been solid.
Can't believe some ...if not most of the obvervations on Renouff and his value. Are you all on some mind altering substances..because what I see is a poor exuse for a modern day ruckman.. he has hardly made a impression..and as usual I had him as low as El Capatano, D Stewart, Chappy, Bobbie and to a degree Surj and young Jacobs. So although there were a couple of good taps to advantage and maybe a mark or two..but the rest of his game is very timid...and that's putting it nicely...Redden and Lobbe are far better options ...yesterday, today or tommorrow!

Yep. We are all wrong and you are right. End thread.
