Very interested to hear opinions on Dimma, If he did get the sack would we be in a position to/ want to offer him a head coach role (or other) for 2017?

I don't mind his coaching style and don't rate the tigers list.

Would have him over Sanderson (plenty of sinister rumours about his night life in Adelaide), and McCartney I'm unsure of.. so Dimma may be the most experienced option?... Thoughts?

No thank you.

Would love to hear more of these sinister rumours about Sanderson.......Adelaide can be a weird place, but still love it there.

Great place The Laide... but just rumours of course so I won't disclose.. however they were from credible first-hand sources

i am hoping for one of Mark Thompson/Brett Ratten/Chris Fagan as head coach + Brendan McCartney, Brenton Sanderson or Chris Fagan for player development, and a few yet unknown assistants.

JOHN Barker has emerged as the leading candidate for the Brisbane Lions job that was today vacated by Justin Leppitsch.

At a press conference to announce Leppitsch's sacking on Monday, the Lions said they were not wedded to appointing a coach with senior experience and were open to hiring their third untried coach since 2008.

Barker will be the first assistant coach to complete the AFL Level Four accreditation course next month and is in pole position to take over at the Lions, according to industry insiders.

AFL.com.au has spoken to coaching sources to compile a list of the main candidates for the Lions' vacancy and those coaches seen as the next in line.

It is a group dominated by the Level Four coaches, who were handpicked by the AFL to complete a two-year program designed to equip them for senior coaching.

The first intake, which included Barker, Stuart Dew and Adam Kingsley, will finish the course at the end of this season with a simulated coaching appointment process.

The final exercise, which will include a panel interview with former club CEOs, chairmen and football managers, will give those who are applying for the Lions vacancy the perfect preparation for what lies ahead.

The leading pack

1. John Barker (Carlton)

2. Brett Montgomery (Western Bulldogs)

3. Stuart Dew (Sydney Swans)

4. Jade Rawlings (Melbourne)

Other contenders
5. Adam Kingsley (St Kilda)

6. Scott Burns (Collingwood)

7. David Teague (Adelaide)

8. Simon Lloyd (Geelong)

I think we need 2 big name coaches joining the club as an assistant and head coach and I'd like one focusing on performance and one on development. With someone like Neal Balme overlooking the direction the club is taking.

All speculation at the moment. A lot of coaches might be waiting and seeing what happens with Dimma as well.

It sort of gets lost in the Bolton hype that their performance had improved under Barker when he coached last season.

Don't mind the idea of Barker, played and coached under Clarkson, coached under Lyon when Saints were up and about, Seems to have done well at Carlton and from memory was well in the frame to take over from Mick until it went to Bolton.

I do think an experienced senior coach with rebuilding and finals experience like a Ratten or Thompson would be better, especially considering the need to sell hope to members for the future, but I suppose beggars can't be choosers and he would seem like a suitable candidate if we couldn't get one of the former.

Give me a coach that want's to try and win a premiership every year

I'm pretty sure most of those are either extraordinarily lucky in when they join a club, or are locked up in the local insane asylum.
