We didn't get a mini-draft selection.
We haven't recruited a KP player.
We haven'y improved/lowered our draft position enough to take a KP player of note (based on what the club has said previously).
We have given away a 'best 22' player for a marginal pick upgrade and some salary cap space.

The Pearce FA signing was good.

What impressive work am I missing here? Also, where did I 'bag' anyone?

You are spot on. Other than Ross Lyon, bond has pretty much failed in every attempt to add experienced talent to our list.

This is it.

Without slander, only facts - what has he done to strengthen our list going forward whilst the window is open?

I'm not saying he's failed. For the most part the decisions he's made have been fine. It's just that he never really does anything other than what is standard practice across the league. Keep your low draft picks, don't overpay at the trade table (particularly for players who don't want anything more than a payday) etc. It's all just basic stuff.

Kep, McPhee, Dawson, D. Pearce, Griffin

Failed in every attempt? He's successfully brought in 5 players in the last few years.
Pearce is unproven in Freo colours, could be a Jack Anthony dud. Kep is not best 22, either is Griffin.

Ill give you McPhee as Dawson was a Ross Lyon order.

Lol just imagine what will happen if we don't draft any talls this draft.... I may actually spontaneously combust lol and then start cursing the llond or boyd regime

I don't actually care if we don't take any talls given the picks we have. That is kind of the problem though, given our need for talls and lack of low picks, we really needed to get something done this FA/trade period.

Again though, I'm happy to wait and see what happens after the ND.

So every traded player is unproven. GCS are taking a huge risk with an unproven Broughton.

One of Kep and Griffin are best 22 most weeks. Also, the highlighted comment was that Bond has failed to add experienced talent to our list. All the players added have played regularly games at AFL level (with the exception of he who shant be named). You might not rate them, but the coaches and match committee have in the past.

*if* Broughton refused to buy in - I can accept the club getting rid of him and accepting a lower pick to get his contract off it's books. Better to not have a player that couldnt maintain the discipline required - especially since behavioural issues are infectious.

However if it was a trade to boost our draft position - with a player who to me is best 22 when not injured and playing down back - we got royally ****ed up the arse.

Pearce has done nothing lately - who's to say that will change in a freo jumper? Same as Jack Anthony after kicking 50 goals that 1 year.... nothing since so again...... Pearce is "unproven"

Keps and Mcphee was alot to do with Harvey, they wouldnt have come if it wasnt for him.
Dawson was due to Lyon.
All nominated freo as who they wanted to play for making it very easy for us to get hem for peanuts.

Not much point taking any talls after pick 20, its a massive gamble and rarely pays off.
If we want to replace guys like Mcpharlin and Pav in the future that requires top 20 picks.

Cant believe Bond gave the ok to this Broughton deal.
I understand GC wouldnt offer 13 or whatever they had and this is their first pick after that.
So i would of tried the saints and other interested clubs.
If none interested keep playing hard ball with GC, it looks like they will be trading Toy, so could of waited to see what they got for him and then deal.
37 for a guaranteed best 22 player in the prime of his career isnt good enough.
Then we even throw pick 60 at the GC to say thanks.
Sure we were not going to use pick 60 and any after that for anything but rookie upgrades but that shouldnt matter.
Dont give other clubs a pick just because we wont use it, especially after they got a gift.

I expected to hear today Broughton has been traded, expected abit better than this though.

Yep your correct, a front runner

actually the opposite - he was in the thick of things far more when our mids were injured or down in the first half of the season, he didn't seem to have the same output/effect when it all started coming together 2nd half when our classier mids came to the fore. He'll improve further, hopefully his confidence can improve further and some skills, but he will always be a hard working workhorse type to large extent.

Pearce averaged over 21 possessions a game this year in a shit team. While being tagged regularly according to Port supporters.

That's more than every player at Freo besides Barlow, Fyfe and Mundy.

Freo is one smooth operator, no rumours, no offers, out of the blue - LOVE IT!
.........Even better that nothing was let slip, very, very profesional Freo. Stoked we didnt get Cloke, anything else i
s a bonus.:thumbsu:
Quite smart by us - Port have to react to this without a coach in place ...more likely to be conservative.
DP on one wing and Hill on the other would be perfect for Subi
Got to respect the recruiter, get in hard and fast, catch the other by surprise with no leaks.
Oh the Risk - Oh the HORROR
So, we should play it safe with lists and never pay anyone over 300K per year, that way we can ensure we never make a bad mistake and can never be criticised for any one decision going bad.
You do realise player recruitment and management is all about risk, looking at the player and determining how their attributes and abilities, including mental, can best be utilised and expanded upon. Managing is all about taking risks, calculated risks on every factor/opporutnity for the best outcomes with least downside - nobody gets it 100% right, successful managers get it right overall, better than their opposition with less massive overall downside risk. I think Freo have proved fairly good at recruitment recently and with RTB the risks are mitigated far more with greater upside - with RTB Freo are more defined as to what will work (player traits and mental attributes) than previously - though obviously there is still risk - nothing in life is guaranteed.
So most of the free agency bids/moves so far have been predicted weeks ago but no such predictions of Pearce to Freo. The Freo Ninja's strike again.
Great pick up. Well done FFC.
Welcome to Fremantle Danyle!

Where's all the love gone since the Pearce recruitment????

Don't mind the trade ... yes it's unders but I'm highly confident we'll take A KPP with our first pick now ... Spencer White will be 37 (Future Buddy) and 40 will be a smaller player

Greg Broughton and Pick 60 for Buddy, Sir yes sir.
Also this trade gives us a better shot at the current buddy nxt yr, and means we need to delist 1 less player

I agree with this and I must admit to not knowing which way to look at it and may never know unless the real reason as to why Broughton was traded to GC becomes public.

I just hope that Freo are very savvy in recruiting this draft.

"Ross has got a lot of respect for Greg and Greg for Ross, but at the end of the day it was just a decision in the best interests of the footy club and in talking to Greg, we think that everyone comes out with a win.

"We spoke to Greg and his management at length yesterday and I think we all walk away really satisfied, and Greg as well that he's going to get a great opportunity at the Gold Coast.
