Brown would be a fool to sit on the sidelines all next year considering the Eagles are an injury to a KPP away from him playing in a premiership contending team. He should remember there are always fairytales in premiership teams just ask Mitch Morton, Richard Hadley, Steven Armstrong just to name a few. Fair enough, I was harsh on Vozzo, I take that back. I may have made one comment on how I hope you get ripped off (can't remember exactly) but that's not exactly an awful thing to say.
Hmm interesting on the saints board. Saw a few brown for cripps deals with the odd person throwing in a 3rd rounder. At least they have decency/intelligence not to suggest it on the WCE's board.
Tit for tat Tom. You have a go at one of ours on our own board and i am going to defend them. Especially considering some of the things you have said about our club recently. I understand you may be frustrated that we don't want to trade Brown but that is because he is very much required. We are trying to win a premiership next year and Brown is practically the only good back-up we have for Glass and Mackenzie.
With Lynch going he might even see games up forward from time to time. KPP players don't grow on trees, especially of Brown's calibre and trust me all the games he played this year he was serviceable to good. If Glass retires next year then Brown is the instant successor for the HB role. We may lose him next year but then again we may not and this is the stance of the club. If you offered something obscene for him then of course we would have to consider it but as it stands he is a valuable piece to us trying to win the whole darn thing. Premierships don't come around too often Tom and i would prefer we had the best possible list for next year regardless of what problems may arise at the end of the year.
This is the clubs position, our supporters position and what Pickering says or Brown wants isn't the only factor. We signed him up, he agreed and now he must honour that contract unless St Kilda are prepared to make an offer to good to refuse.
Whether you like it or not the player doesn't always get what he wants and if clubs were to try and target contracted players every year and persuade them to walk out then i would be inclined to say your club and i mean no disrespect, would find itself behind a fair few more powerful clubs with better facilities, more supporters, better sponsors etc.
Is this where you want to see football head? Players controlling the whole thing? It's done wonders for the NBA. Some common sense needs to be applied from time to time.
