Says more about Carlton than Cripps.
The 3-2-1 system is rubbish.

Brownlow should be decided by a 12 votes any way you like system.

Love it how they say Daicos also broke the record but fail to talk about how there was an extra round this season in which he got 3 votes in to actually break that record.

Without the extra round he falls 1 short at 35 votes

I'm gonna go through the Carlton board's MVP and see if they had Cripps that high up as well.
Did pick Trac, though. 🎓
I'm actually amazed Petracca stayed on top for the Dees. Really shows how much Melbourne dropped off after the bye.

Oh, get ready to see what the final result of the 426 was this year. No.7 will shock you.

I didn't watch it because it's tripe, but how the hell hell does someone get 45 votes? That's like 15 X BOG.

CORRECT

I genuinely think umpires have become lazy and just go off stats every week.
Not sure. They gave a vote to Daicos who got tagged out of the game with 15 possessions against us. They have their favourites more than anything. Neale is another one who just has to show up to get votes. I just find it hilarious how the players voted Bont as the best player in 2024 yet he gets 26 less votes than the winner of the Brownlow utterly ridiculous.

I remember hearing last year that the Umpires aren't even allowed to look at a stat sheet before giving their votes. That explains the weird ones like where Naicos can get subbed off injured and still get a vote. They mixed him up with his brother.

I always found that weird, I know they don't want umps to be biased to stats but say they think a guys had a great game and give him 3 votes and then it turns out he's had 10 disposals and they got mixed up, is that really more pure?

Yeah if anything it could just be a way for the umps to correct their work.

It's weird though you'd think not having the stats would make the umpires less biased towards midfielders but instead they just become biased towards the biggest names. If they did have the stats it would absolutely just become another disposal contest though lol.
