I'm sorry, but would this be a normal requirement for any boss?

If you've lost your Chief of Staff who was attempting to support Higgins and who was told to close the matter off, it would be expected that the boss follow up with something. Inquiries even.

I get it that Reynolds isn't a counsellor but that's a very cynical, even ugly view and it wasn't necessary to frame it that way. You don't need to be a counsellor to make inquiries and follow up. It was after all, Reynolds couch that she was r*ped on.

Did Senator Reynolds discuss Ms Higgins’ needs before or after she had her heated exchange with her CoS demanding that the allegation be reported to police? A demand Ms Brown strongly and successfully resisted because she believed it took away Ms Higgins’ ‘agency’ of her own sexual assault.

Reynolds had no further conversations with Higgins about the assault.

Just on this, it's real curious that Reynolds wanted the matter reported at a police station, low key, over trotting off down in to the basement to the AFP.

Material differences between Higgins' two psych reports have been published:

The first report, handed to Ms Higgins' lawyers on January 31 2022, attributed all of the former staffer's psychiatric harm to her 2019 rape by Bruce Lehrmann, but the second, handed to her lawyers some 10 days later on February 9, split the attribution.

In that report, Dr Clavijo placed 60 per cent of the cause of harm on the rape, with the remaining 40 per cent attributed to the handling of the claim by Senator Reynolds and the Parliament.

I dont understand, the thought process by LR, to think she is entitles to BH medical history.
It's part of the basis of claims against her. Refer section 4.2 of the Deed.

In all seriousness though, to me this new lawsuit is (as described by another member on here perfectly) very grabby looking of LR. Would this grabby shitty move be taken into account by Justice Tottle when he makes his decision? Or no? Like why not wait until you actually win (hopefully not the case here) to do this. I just feel it speaks volumes of LRs character...

There is actually, I can't find Samantha Maiden and AFP officer Close on the witness list at the Lee trial.

I personally think this isn't going to go all Higgins way but Reynolds is imo, doing the wrong thing by targeting and blaming her for the position she was put in.
You two won't but some might consider Higgins a little "grabby" in light of the two psych reports, s4.2 of the Deed (secret "Special Circumstances" prevented Reynolds being involved and defending herself), the quantum of her payout, and her subsequently exposed lies relating to her treatment by Reynolds and a non-existent cover-up. And people wonder why Reynolds is mentally unwell and furious!

yet.

you appear to have no understanding or care, that BH, is unwell, due inpart to her treatment by her workplace, after being assaulted in her workplace.

you are all about the employer. I would hate to work for you.

Workplaces with Authentic leaders prosper.Workplaces with Autocrats do not.

You empathise and treat your staff with dignity and respect.
You do not ignore their plight, when they have been assaulted by another staff member.

Unless you’re a specialist in the field you might not get it entirely right, but there’s also common sense. Did B receive the support she felt she needed in her workplace? B didn’t feel it was?
On the contrary, she thanked Brown for all her help and sent Reynolds flowers.

Higgins didn't say she was r*ped for 2 years!

Calm down! It was a legit question.

I work for a Fortune 500 company, so perhaps I'm just used to detachment from bosses.

Irrespective, Reynolds and Higgins were in each other's pocket in Perth and seemed to have a good time based on the photos and Higgins' texts (which contradict The Project / Maiden articles). How does anyone know their interactions?

I don't think my boss wouldn't do much more than Reynolds and Brown did if I was r*ped in the workplace but I could be wrong.

Likewise! I sure as hell know they wouldn't visit my house.

A few facts of clarification.

Not sure where you work or have worked but my guess is that it is nowhere near a working relationship with a Ministerial Office. Be thankful for that.

Because I have - working adjacent to (but not for) both Liberal and Labor Premiers and Ministers in SA and a couple of Federal Government Ministers in various segments of my career.

The people who are employed in these offices are, in the main, employed on separate term contracts that tie them to the term of office of the political party that employs them with a new contract being negotiated at the commencement of each new term of office. They are political staffers NOT public servants and they (mostly) seek and are able to gain employment within the office of Ministers because of their alignment to the Minister that employs them and/or the political party that is in government. Loyalty to the party and the Minister they serve is the key requirement here - measured in terms of keeping highly sensitive and political information and negotiations secret and being expected to work very long and unusual hours at the behest of their Minister.

As a result of this, and the fact the number of staff in each Ministerial Office is relatively small (less than a dozen in terms of Reynolds' Parliamentary Office iirc), a very close and personal bond is usually present between staff and their Minister.

It is nothing like working in a 'Fortune 500 company' (lol) or government department but more like a family business I guess. Hence my question about Minister Reynolds' personally following up on the welfare of one of her staffers after an alleged sexcual assault is not out of the ordinary at all. In fact it would be expected.

It also explains why Ms Higgins had a heightened sense of awareness about how the revelation of her rape might affect her relationship with her Minister and her future employment prospects, particularly with a Federal election looming.

I hope that explains the relevance of my questions about Senator Reynolds' behaviour subsequent to being informed of the rape allegations.

It is a context that is imho critical to understanding Ms Higgins state of mind following her rape.

EDIT: The unique characteristics of working within Ministerial offices and the culture it creates, including an expectation of keeping quiet when it comes to matters of personal impropriety and why the extensive allegations of sexual assault and bullying within Parliamentary workplaces have previously gone unreported, gets a thorough and harsh going over in the 2021 Jenkins' Report of Parliamentary Workplaces that was commissioned by Scott Morrison after the allegations of Ms Higgins rape surfaced in the media.
