He’s been a huge part of the game. After Lou Richards he’s really been the voice of the game.

Was past his used by date a while ago. Good luck to him though in his life after this. And hopefully the producers pizz off with him. As some of the commentary we get is appalling and I have no doubt commentators get direct to commentate like they’re commentating to a bunch of half pizzed dumb bogans.

Had a wonderful AFL broadcasting career...at his peak, was one of the best footy callers we’ve had in the modern game... did he go on too long? Most probably, but he will be remembered as one of the best there was...congrats on a great career Bruce!

We will now have a lot more JB & Hamish...I think those that have been complaining about Bruce over the past few years will be wishing he was back.

He's been pretty painful to listen for the last few years ever since his adoration for Cyril Rioli developed. His touch and feel for the game has failed him recently too. That said, if you watch clips of him commentating in the 90s, he's actually pretty good. Grats on the career, but a good time to hang up the mic.

Definitely a great career for him... commentating the Olympics, Channel 7 games. A voice that we will all remember, for good and bad. I thought that Bruce was awesome up until the 2010s... his love-in with particular players was his downfall really. Seemed out of touch as well.

Like Channel 9 did with the cricket commentary team up until its end, I think the producers at Channel 7 wanted the commentators to talk about the game in a particular way... which didnt help matters.

But this means more Darcy and Hamish... gulp

A great career by Bruce but I think Dennis Cometti might have something to say about this.

I reckon he cops it a bit harshly on here. Sure, he has his moments and oddities, gets a few names wrong, might get a bit too excited, but overall he has been a good commentator and has a very iconic voice that will always remind me of the elite level. You can't deny the man's passion for sport. Enjoy your retirement Brewce
