Just foy back from visiting rellies in WA. They were saying that Bruce Monteath;s son has been ripping it up in the WAFL for East Perth this year.

He is roughly 23 and a midfielder that I am told is a ball magnet. Does he qualify as a father/son pick?

Any WA posters, is he as good as I have been told?

Are you related to Dennis Cometti?

He was ranting about this during the last quarter yesterday - missed calling one of our goals. HATE it when "commentators" don't commentate the game.

FFS NO !!!! As I said, in the OP, I was visiting rellies and they were raving about him having a breakout year in the WAFL. Just wondered if some WA posters could provide some feedback on him

Worth having a look at this article too.

My source in Wa sent me this about young Kim Monteath:

Kim Monteath seems to have that running ability similar to Masten, he's probably more outside, a link type player. Skills are neat, not elite but not terrible either. Speed is not overly quick, but hell, I couldn't run him down!:D OK overhead for his size but will run and support all day. That's his big thing. Possibly similar to Ben Howlett at the Dons.

Thats about all I can say,

seems like he is a link, run and carry outside running type..

If the pic above is him.. then he is playing for east fremantle not east perth

Correct, he has always played for East Freo. We gave his older brother Rhys a chance a few seasons back with coburg, he wasnt up to it. Kym was always touted as being better but never took that next step.

I guess now all the rage is for mature aged rookies, giving Kym 1 season to prove himself couldnt hurt the club.

As someone mentioned earlier, it's not likely that we would need to use a Father-Son to get him on the list or to rookie him. ie. He's probly not high on the lists of other clubs.

Thus, we should only look at him if he fills a need, or is literally knocking the door down. No need to take him on simply because he is the son of a Premiership captain who spent most of the GF on the bench. :)

For what it's worth, I saw him play against South Freo this year and he played a good game. He was getting a bit of it, I didn't know who he was, looked him up in the program, noticed his surname and kept an eye on him for the rest of the game. Solid WAFL player.

Haven't seen him since but his figures indicate he's had a good year.

Well Kym will make an appearance today in the Fremantle courts. He was involved in a assault back in July against two security guards at Rosie O'Gradys Fremantle. Alan Quartermaine the sandover medalist in 1975 for East Perth was also involved assaulting a women with his younger son Joel Quartermaine as well.
