Who on that list is he better than?

As a CHF this year? All of them except for McPharlin.

Jamison, Merrett, Scarlett, Glass and Thompson are all FBs, don't even know why you mentioned them.

Gibson's been good, but is undersized and is no chance of being the AA CHB, would fill a BP most likely. Fisher is as much of a CHB as Maxwell.

The only legitimate other CHBs you named were Taylor, Fletcher :)o) and Frawley :)o) and of those guys only Taylor is remotely close to being AA. But ultimately Reid's 11 games > Taylor's 9.

Jamison plays as much at CHB as he does at FB; He simply plays on the best Big Man in the side whether that is a Nick Riewoldt type CHF or a deep forward.

He is fed the ball on most occasions and loses his man and get's many kicks and marks through small chip kicks or switch of the play while he is on his own. All clubs have these type of players, they are what they are and are valuable in their own right but are rarely regarded as elite of the competition. Those honours are usually for those that get their own ball.

Where are all these non Carlton supporters that claim he wins his own ball?

You may have been watching footy longer than me but clearly your understanding is limited.

There are players who are very good at getting the ball out of the packs and distributing it, in other words win the hard ball. Players that come to mind are Brett Ratten, Brett Kirk and Luke Ball to name a few.

There are players who are outside players and receive the ball in open space and can deliver the ball forward with speed and accuracy like Scott Camporeale, David King and Leigh Montagna.

Then there are a few who can do both, Judd, Hodge and Hird.

To say that a good player can only come from the first or third groups is wrong. A team needs someone in the middle to get the ball out but they need to give it to someone. In some cases it can be harder and more important to get more uncontested possessions. By getting uncontested possessions you are working harder than your opponent to get into a free position, meaning you have to have great fitness than you opponent and a better work ethic to make the gut runs to continue it though out the game. A team which is winning the uncontested possession count usually wins because it is an indication of them applying themselves more to helping out.

According to you you would prefer a team that were only interested in winning the contested ball. All you need to do is watch the Cats v Bulldogs from last week and you will realise how wrong you are. The Dogs would have numerous players trying to win the ball together however when the cats won the ball it was quickly released to there runners who were standing around the pack waiting and they were free to run forward. It is important to have people inside with the pressure but you also need some players outside to get the ball moving.

Chances of Jamison being named at CHB in the AA: slim to none

Chances of Jamison being named at FB in the AA: good to very good

He isn't in competition with Reid for a spot, simple as that.
