Hey, we got over Gibbs more than a year ago, we don't expect him to come back at all and hence don't give a rats when we find out he doesn't want to. What annoys us is when a smug smart a*** from Carlton of all places comes to boast about something like this, but hey, I guess they don't have a lot else to be smug and brag about.

How many #1-3 draft picks have you guys "earnt" over the past 5 years? In fact how many matches have you won over that period?

I would much rather be at a club with a "winning" culture to pass onto its kids and have missed the finals once in the past 6 years, than one where supporters have to brag about a #1 draft pick not wanting to go home, because frankly they have very little else to brag about.

Take heart that you have just recruited the best player in the league and have some outstanding young talent at your club, don't come on our forums to brag about things like this.

I would like to announce that I have it on good authority that Carlton are going to change their name to the Carlton Spoons.

Think of the sponsorship opportunities!

And the best part of all, your current and future supporters will become accustomed to a spoon culture, the same one that the players are already at home with. So when the supporters get one every other year it will be expected and even enjoyed, as the club rejoices in the wondrous spoon culture, screw everyone else, you're the Carlton Spoons.

Because it doesn't matter if you lose, just as long as you can market it.

CHRIS JUDD Spooner of the Century.

Carlton... ha ha ha.

Perhaps you'd like to ask the Los Angeles Clippers how the whole tanking-to-receive-high-draft-picks thing has worked out for them historically?

I'm convinced Gibbs was the best choice for #1 last year. Overall, he is the complete package player. Still convinced Carlton are going to destroy any remnants of talent that he may have once had for the Bays.

from what he is showing at carlton, i dont think he is worthy of no1. Still he is only young and got a long way to go.

He will want to come back when he realises we will offer twice as much because you have no room left in your salary cap because of Judd. Pratt should be locked up aswell! He is lucky his Liberal Mates are looking after him:thumbsdown:

If Selwood had played BP most people would think he was also a disappointment. Gibbs was the safest pick in the draft. He is an absolute lock to play 200+ great games of footy. 2007 was a development year where Carlton played him in a position he had never played before (whether that was a good move is debatable, but nonetheless it was a strategy which has some merit for him long term). When he did get near the ball I think he showed he was a very good AFL player. If he gets a decent run in the midfield or forward he will absolutely slay the comp. Selwood is a very different situation considering his shocking 2006.

Guys I have it on good authority and the rumour is that Bryce is not at all interested in returning to Adelaide and is very happy at Carlton and can't wait to play with Judd. rumour is he will sign a contract extension soon.

indeed who cares on this board - he is after all a Carlton player

perhaps the fact that you needed to start this thread on our board
shows your insecurity

I would take Selwood any day over Gibbs. Gibbs has been overrated purely becuase he was the number 1 pick. If he had gone at a later pick to a better club than Carlton he would have struggled to get a game last year, whereas Selwood was a first 18 player in the premiership team
