Got to love reading this. Confirms Eddie is down his pants.

Unbelievable reading. Eddie is killing Collingwood due to having faith in his 'friend'. Not the way the relationship should be working.

Made me laugh a few weeks ago on Triple M when Eddie said that Bucks had out coached two weeks in a row. (They were 0-2 at the time). Then Luke Darcy pointed out that you can't out-coach when you've lost two weeks in a row. Haha clearly delusional.

He's gone. They'll inevitably bounce back and win a few cheap ones as the season goes on but it won't be enough for finals. It's a shame because I think Buckley knows what he's doing mostly and they're always competitive. Something tells me that if he'd done a lengthy apprenticeship under a series of successful coaches (instead of a token one under Malthouse knowing he'd get the keys at the end) he might have made something of it.

They often win in the middle and they get enough f50 entries. They just can't score. Who knows whether it's personnel, luck, coaching or a combination. He's cooked. Will slip effortlessly back into the media at least if that's what he wants.

That means each of the three favourite sons of the 90s/2000s has failed as a coach. Goes to show that there's no substitute for a proper appointment process. Bevo, Clarko and Lyon weren't favourite sons and weren't even amazing footballers. They were appointed just because they presented as excellent coaches, as it should be.

I've never understood how it is that organisations turning over $70m+ in revenue a year could just bypass a proper recruitment process for the most important appointment at the club. They made an emotional decision, not a business one and anyone who endorsed it at the Lions, Bombers or Collingwood (to be fair I doubt even the bootstudder is now left at Essendon) should walk or be removed.

ASAP The pies do have a good list but he is a lazy coach (in my opinion) The board needs to find a new coach, he has not been dropped yet because of his name.

I don't see why keeping him on for the rest of the year will do anything... Give Burns the gig for 2017 and see if he's any good, if not go hard for Roos/Clarkson/Dew at the end of the year

it's got that feeling of inevitability about it, similar to when we beat Essendon by 100+ in 2015 and that was probably the line through James Hird. If Collingwood suffer a similar flogging this week I can't see Bucks making the year.

If you did that - give Burns the job as a caretaker and he then won a few games, got support of the masses - isnt the danger you are back where you are now. A favourite son without a proper selection process.

I think that's the thing people are overlooking too, that the motivation, effort and competitiveness have been there in every game so far for Collingwood. Usually that's the part that's falling down when people are talking about sacking a coach. They just lack the decision-making and polish.

Must be frustrating for Pies fans to watch the team do all this hard work and be competitive and not getting the reward on the score board. Pies have a good midfield and compete well they just need a forward line and some key backs that's what the Pies should be focusing on the next few trades/drafts no more mids time to get some forwards and backs.

I think we have easily a top 8 list, managed poorly, and again will not play finals.

We need a coach and a president who aren't inside each other which clearly Eddie has made clear on many occasions is the case.

Also, which other club president has been at the helm for nearly 20 years?

You can't say we have a top 8 list when our KPD and KPF charts read.

That is disgusting.

There's not going to be a selection process in any case. This is Eddie - he's a king and rules like one. He knows he has to bring in a name to appease the masses lest they hunt him down and behead him.

Premiership coaches:

Roos
Worsfold
Bomber
Clarkson
Malthouse
Scott
Longmire
Beveridge

Obviously take out Malthouse... but bundle bet the rest and you'll get $1.01. It'll be one of them. Perhaps Ross Lyon would be a chance.

I think if things don't improve rapidly, Buckley will walk when it becomes mathematically impossible to make finals. This will save Eddie the job of sacking him.
Buckley seems to have that integrity. He'll follow through with his statement of expecting to make finals.

I can't see Roos doing it. Doesn't need the cash. Can spin the Melbourne gig as a success no matter where the Dees go from here. The Pies couldn't exactly appoint Roos with a successor when that's what Buckley was.

Malthouse out. Bomber has to be out surely. Worsfold won't move. Chris Scott won't move. Beveridge won't move. Any chance the Hawks have of an amicable divorce with Clarko is ruined by the fact it's Collingwood. Longmire is getting stale at the Swans so maybe there's some wiggle room there but overall I doubt his time is up yet.

The lack of proven successful coaches in the market works for retaining Buckley throughout the year and there's not even a lot of assistants getting buzz at the moment. The Hawthorn pipeline must surely be empty. Adam Kingsley is the hottest name right now and I can't see Eddie going for the Saints midfield coach.

I wouldn't be surprised if they hired someone set up to fail and then hunted the big name.

I agree with your first half. I think Bucks' time is clearly done - but I think its a shame becausr I reckon if the players were able to implement our gameplan consistently over 4 quarters (and be efficient in the fwd 50) then it could've been very succesful... unfortunately they couldn't and ultimately Bucks takes the blame for that.

But the recruitment/transition process is hard to judge- because it turned out very different to what was planned. Malthouse's comments in 2009 signified that he was thinking of when it would be time to step back from footy (voicing both family and health) and he, on paper, agreed to oversee the first 3 years of Bucks' coaching. Obviously that didnt play out as planned- and the club has paid the price.

Fair enough if you agree Malthouse appeared done at the time. His version of events later was that he was pressured to do it though. Even so, surely you scout for the best qualified candidate in the entire industry rather than a guy who had had a part time role at the AIS and nothing else.

Eddie will be the Pies president untill he dies, Gary Pert has stated on Fox footy that the Pies need Eddie more than Eddie than the Pies, for his promotional power & ability to draw sponsorship from his media play forms
