Must've been reading a different forum. We were all about Excel spreadsheets on the benefits of using Hardline Pro in certain slots, the Kliq, Swade refusing to cap flags, pi**ing off mods and calling the game s**t but still playing it 10 threads later.

When the board was worth posting on.

I pre-date a lot of that stuff...I'm really old :p

But yeah the times you mention were also very good

Game looks promising. Surely, after many years of absolute s**t shows, having some of the original team back they can get this series back on track. Sound design is ridiculously good for a CoD title.

I recently jumped back in to Blops 4 and that's just a pay to win, cringe worthy mess nowadays, i reluctantly play it to keep my skills and reflexes in check for the next title :(

As someone who considered Treyarch the A team during the Blops and Blops 2 days, they've pretty much lost me with their last 2 efforts. Specialist abilities are way worse than support streaks from MW3.

On a side note, that free CoD mobile game is actually pretty solid and people are absolute dog s**t with phone controls, leading to constant 25+ kill matches of the possible 40.
I wish I could find it but there was a tweet from someone who recently left Treyarch about two months ago stating that the devs at 3arc didn’t want the pay to win micro transaction system and hiding new guns behind supply drops... but in their quest to constantly outdo EA they were told in no uncertain terms by Activision that they were in the game.

Tl;dr Activision overruled 3arc on microtransaction, pay to win and supply drops. Won’t be surprised if they do the same to IW with this title.

I’ve been playing BO4 still for a while now. Not paying for stuff, and just unlocking weapons through luck. They’ve botched the game in the 2nd half of its life cycle badly.

I actually enjoy the core parts of the game. Not too many bad maps, apart from the DLC ones which are all trash (other than recycled ones), like the slower ttk, the manual healing, that you can use any type of weapon on most maps, and even the early specialists (bar torque). However the new guns have been far too OP, and the new specialists increasingly unnecessary.

Reaper, Zero and Spectre unneeded. Stinger, reaver and vendetta too OP for a slow TTK title. Just so unbalanced right now

I have to admit that Blops 4 turned into a shitshow. The game was okay at the start but IMO got progressively worse as they added more specialists and shoved more microtransactions in your face. And to anyone who says "why don't you just play bare bones if you don't like specialists?" well I tried that and got sick of the waiting in lobbies. The problem is that the player base is so divided up between blackout, zombies, and all the different multiplayer modes that matchmaking is often painfully long for certain modes like bare bones. Some of the stupid shit in the game like the invincible dog that gets you 2 or 3 cheap kills with zero skill involved, or the shotgun torch that blinds people so you can get cheat kills, make the game nothing more than a massive troll show.

The fact that there will be no specialists, no mini map and there will be crossplay is what has me excited about modern warfare.

I agree with all this 1000%. The core of the game is good, but they cluttered the game with too many specialists, microtransactions and pay to win weapons.

I still have a bunch of old screenshots from the golden years on an old laptop.

Golden Years: people posting pictures of girlfriends cleavage, whales, the word neglect , threats of violence and suing.

Anyone play the new beta? it still looked and feel very much the same. It didnt notice the graphics being that good even though its meant to be on a new engine.

Logged on for a couple of games now that my beta is open for use.
So so happy.

For far too long Activision has treated the PC cod community with contempt.
We get shit last. The player base starts off smaller, then is split with the season pass, and by month 3 you can't play anything other than TDM unless there's a playlist. The only reason my BO4 Dom/HP challenges have any progress is because they had a 2xp Nuketown playlist and I played it for a whole weekend. That's the sort of shit we put up with, get no support from Activision or devs either.

I was in crossplay lobbies this afternoon and like I said. So so happy. It works. It actually works.
For the first time since probably MW3 or BO2 I can actually buy a Cod title and get to enjoy its many facets.

Once I get my new PC and can run this on high specs as opposed to med/low I think I'll enjoy this a lot.
Early signs are good for me.

Really enjoying it so far. Few things need tightening up (audio and lighting in certain areas) but I'm having blast. Groundwar 32v32 is a clusterfck but a good change.

Crossplay is great for us PC users.
OMG I was so shit at 32v32.
I was trying to snipe but lordy was it hard. People everywhere.

Doing alright at the smaller modes.
Still can't handle AK-47 recoil so nothing new there. Been like that for 10 years. :D

I've just been running assault on groundwar and I've been doing ok. Finding groundwar alot easier to get streaks then normal modes. Just patrolling the buildings around C and D.

The scope glare on the snipers is quite bright. I imagine that's making it quite a bit harder for snipers to stay alive for long.

I've been playing PUBG for a long time now so the recoil in COD seems non-existent in comparison.

How has everyone found the beta?
Interesting to think about, we all know that the beta can and does change from what we get at launch.
BO4 we had the ABR as the go to gun in the beta and SMG's were shit. At launch that was all changed so need to give thoughts on it knowing that it probably won't be as it is at launch.

What I liked was the shorter time to kill. Not that I hated BO4's long TTK by any means, it promoted an aggressive, fast paced gamestyle which when combined with stim shots and specialists offered something new and different to CoD. However, this feels nostalgic for me. It is just like the TTK of the first CoD game I played. CoD4, the original not the remaster. Even love the radar ping sound that was in the beta. Old school.

For me there was a lot to like about the beta. For starters coming from the CoD wasteland that is the PC community the addition of crossplay is a game changer, it means that not only for this game but presumably CoD 2020 it will not be the reason to buy an xbox Scarlett or PS5, and in fact an incentive to further invest in my PC setup.

I like what they've done with the guns also. Having customisation that can on one hand make the gun feel and perform completely differently, and in some cases almost converting it into a new gun entirely is great. Even better that you have to think about what you want to attach, and how you intend to play as gun attachments have cons now as well. Brilliant move.

Feel like I am going to spend heaps of time with the MP5, MP7, M4, Oden, M13 and the Mk2 Carbine in hand. The Oden beefed up with attachments was very strong towards the end of the beta. The M13 suppressed with Ghost was brilliant too.

Lot's of outrage at the campaign launch that Survival Mode in Spec Ops will be PS4 exclusive until Oct 1 2020 and how that is unfair. As a non-PS4 user I am happy with this trade off so that all maps, featured playlists and DLC weapons are not PS4 exclusive. We're talking about a small portion of one mode of the game, and probably the least popular mode of the 3, and maybe even 4th once the rumoured Battle Royal drops for free. Not much to complain about there, PS4 can have that small sliver to themselves as far as I am concerned.

What I don't like though is the spawns. The algorithm seems off. So many times you spawn near an enemy and it seems as though it may stop spawning when an opponent is looking at your spawn it doesn't if he's there but looking elsewhere. They desperately need to fix the spawns. Ground war was especially bad for this.

I don't like scorestreaks being a perk and kill streaks being the default option. The quick TTK has already turned this into a strategic slow paced game aka a campers wet dream. De-incentivising playing the objective by only rewarding kills by default is the wrong way around. Scorestreaks is by far the better method

Going to be the first one I’ve bought since MW3, looks and feels like those as opposed to wall jump rubbish
