Shane Ellen anyone??? Ohhh sorry, undoubted superstar at Footscray before winning a premiership at Adelaide!!!!!

Mate, I saw the Tigers play week in week out, Rodan showed usnothing. He had his opportunities. Any club...your included would have showed him the door ....he didn't grasp his opportunities. The fact he couldn't overtake Krakouer at Tigerland speaks volumes.

Aaron Fiora...another who did little at Tigerland...playing beautifully at the Saints.

Howat showed more than both Fiora and Rodan.

Like to nominate Tom Harley...absolute zero at Port Adelaide...handy at Geelong!

Athorn....might have been a long time ago...but it HAPPENED.

But you go ahead and overlook history!
Mate Tom Harley played one game with Port Adealide andleft of his own accord.

Aaron Fiora had much better credentials than Howat...

Shane Ellen barely played for Adealide he played one good game and that just happned to be a GF...

Rodan despite what you sat always shoed a hell of alot more ability than Howat and had been in the system a lot longer...

Simple fact is why would a club such as Carlton that is rebuilding from the bottom up want to draft a bloke who has been delisted (deemed not good enough and rightly so) by a club in a similar position.. Quite simply Richmond is about the only club Howat would have played senior footy at last year, as after their poor start and injureis they took the option of having alook at border line cases such as Howat and giving them an extended run in teh side. Obviously having had a look at him over the year the correctly deemed him to be no ****ing good.. On the other hand they decided someone like a Jake King was wother perservering with (not sure of the wisdom of this choice, but it is Richmond we are talking about)...

So mate you can quote history all you like and pull names out of the hat (sure you won't find tens of thousands like you claim) but the simple fact is Howat is no good which is why he was delisted by a club that has cornered the market in mediocrity for over 30 years......

Howat would have been a regular at your club last season ...and probably will be next year when you pick him up!!!

Rodan had ample opportunities at Tigerland to get the job done...couldn't cement a spot pure and simple.
Good luck to the kid, he caught on at a good club and was surrounded by premier on-ballers like the Burgoynes and Cornes'.
Rightly or wrongly...Shane Ellen is a premiership player!!
LMAO at you bagging Richmond. Yep, we won the spoon last year, you guys haven't risen above 15th in three or four years, yet you talk as if you are premiership contenders.
Yep, you'd know about mediocre.

Surprisingly delisted by Richmond after only 20 senior games. Averaged 18 possessions and 5 marks in his debut season last year and this season dropped off slightly averaging 14 disposals and 5 marks.
At the present time, he is looking as the best possible player for us to pick up in the PSD and i certainly wouldn't hesitate to give him another go. Is a very quick half backman and knows where the goals are. He could also give some relief to Scotland.
Thoughts..?

:eek::eek::eek:

Howat to me always seemed to be more interested in doing flashy things and tyring to make himself look good so he could keep getting games rather then doing the team things like blocking, making space, sacrificial running etc. although i didnt watch too many richmond games (the carlton games were generally bad enough), it just seemed every time he'd get the ball he'd take off without even looking to see what other options were available.. but hey just my observation.

i think there are better players out there and we'd be better off giving an untried youngster or a good vfl player (see jamison) a go rather then a delisted player. howat will probably end up somewhere and i wouldnt be surprised to see richmond re-draft him as a rookie

Rodan > Ross Young.

I agree with many of the points you are saying, but i'd much rather draft someone like Howat (or some other delistee with upside) than taking a VFL player.

I rate Howat. All he needs to do is improve his fitness and consistency and he'd be a very good player. I'm not saying we will/should draft him, but just making a point.

Birdbrain I am not bagging Richmond so you can laugh out loud all you like - all I am saying is that Howat is not a senior AFL player... Ihaveno problem with the Tigers and don't see a lot of differnce b/w wherer the two clubs lists are at.. So stop being so precious and defensive about the Tiges pal and read properly the only point I am amking is that Howat is not an AFL footballer - hence he was delisted because he is not good enough

Say what you will old mate - Carlton have strugled the last six years due to the effects of the punishmnet handed out from salry cap issue under the Elliot regime. Simply not having access to the draft for thosse couple of seasons toally brought the club to its knees. We have copped our whack and are now beginnng our resurgence. What is teh reason for Rihcmond being insipid, mediocre and incompetent for the last 25 years. Your club is a rabble.. You have full access to the draft adn whatever else you like yet still haven'y been able to manufacture a flag for over 20 years, what a sad and sorry state of affairs that is.... Despite Carlton hitting rock bottom and giving you blokes a massive headstart we have already caught up to you and gone past your rabble of a club and our future is looking very rosy for the next coulpe of seasons. Not sure the Tiges can say the same.... Wallace and Miller are a cancer at your club - who are in the game purelty to stroke their own egos and provide slef promotion. Terry Wallace sonehow sold your board a five year plan and yet the club has made abolutely no progress under his stewardship, in fact it could be argued you have gone backwards... Mate I would take Carltons future over yours anyday........

Why do you all turn it into a slinging match?

Richmond = Crap

Carlton = Crap

Simple as that, untill one side or both rises up the ladder you can't say one is better than the other.... Potential + super lists on paper does not win you games, just ask fremantle....

Its kind of like a fight between two ******s, you don't want to watch but you do anyway!

We finished bottom but we weren't the worst. 11 in a row isn't it?

?:confused:

You were the worst and what excuses does Richmond have after all these years? Carlton fans will readily admit to being poorly managed and giving up picks for hacks, but how Richmond's Board can possibly justify 2007 I have no idea.

Back to Howat. Good at running in space but not that crash at the physical stuff or beating his man. If its a choice between Richards and Howat I'd take Howat but he's only ever going to be list-filler. With our emerging defence and midfield I cant see him getting too many games if drafted.

That is an appalling expression and comment and you should really have a good look at yourself and your upbringing. absolute disgrace.

As for the intent behind the comment, Carlton has been crap for years because of its inability to recruit well plus some terrible list and financial management. What's Richmond's excuse for being the worst team in 2007?
