thats reasonable 1 would have been great but 6 would have been a disaster with ling coming back straight before the finals. 4 gives him time to get some form in the last couple H&A matches.

Not much to lose we can only drop as low as 3rd which makes absolutely no difference except to take away the chance that we could play collingwood straight up in the finals.

What about the McLelland trophy? I think these things are undervalued. In some sports this would be the premiership trophy. It doesn't mean much if you don't win the flag but it is good validation that you were in fact the best team through the whole slog of the year, not just turning it on when it mattered, ala Crows in 97/98.

Thanks for the update FTB, it good to hear it won't be 6 weeks, hopefully he makes a speedy recovery.

I agree SirRooke, the minor premiership is way undervalued, for some time i have wanted the AFL to drop the finals and play a 30 round season with the top of the table team taking out the title/premiership.

I hope he gets back for the Hawks game. He's a great player, and I'd rather he shut down Hodge in Rd17, thus giving Hodge a reason for revenge and some experience on him.

This is hard to say, but I feel for you guys, and hope Lingy gets back soon. It's one thing to lose a player to an accidental injury, but to lose one to something that cheap hit, at this stage of the season is really unfair.

And besides, we all want to see a full strength Hawks versus a full strength Geelong

If it's only Ling out then it will be close enough although theres no guarantee Ablett will be back and apparently Enright and Rooke pulled up sore as well.
But you're right...you can accept injuries but losing a player of Lings quality on the eve of our 2 most important H&A games to a cheap behind the play hit really p1sses me off:thumbsdown:

Isn't Hodge's missus due to be having her baby that weekend? So, Lingy would've gone to a Mitchell or even a Lewis?

And Matty Egan's out. So we won't have a full strength team regardless :(

yeah you're right, depends when hodges missus goes into labour, hopefully has the kid during the week before the game, and both teams will not be at full strength regardless of what happens with hodge, ablett and ling.

On the Ling topic, my younger sister is great friends with him and i had the chance to meet him a couple of months back, he is as down to earth as anyone i know which is particularly surprising for a footballer, he is a top bloke and i hope he can get back asap.

Its disgusting what Soloman has done and I wish Cameron Ling a speedy recover and that he is at full strength by finals so you can make it back to back!!:D

I guess the upside is Pris should surely get a game this week.

The AFL should send a message to Solomon and out him for at least 8 games.

Ouch!

"GEELONG'S Cameron Ling yesterday left hospital bearing a massive black-and-blue bruise around his right eye. The star midfielder looked relaxed as he walked his dogs on the beach south of Geelong. Asked how he was feeling, he said: "I'm good thanks, I'm just going for a quiet walk." He chatted with a mate, posing briefly for his friend to photograph his injury on a mobile phone, but would not talk in detail about the sickening blow he copped from Docker Dean Solomon during Saturday's match. Ling was discharged from hospital a day after surgery on his fractured cheekbone."
