Congratulations to the Providence Patriots and Fort Worth Troops who move on to week 2 of the finals.

The other two games are now into overtime. Overtime consists of a 24 hour poll with the winner progressing.

Should their be a second tie following overtime a second one day poll (2OT) will be conducted.

Should this also result in a draw the winner will be randomly selected through http://decidermachine.com/ with each teams name being placed in once and the resulting decision being taken as the winning team.

Calgary No More?

An image has leaked along with a simple message online. The image (seen above) was with the text
"Could have been better. The change is neccesary. CM is gone."
The message implies that Calgary had a disappointing season, which it wasn't, but I can be better, which it can. The fresh new logo replaces a simple triangle with a maple leaf and the letter C. As for the nickname, it may refer to Palm Harbor in the Tampa Bay area. Whatever happens, get excited for Tampa Bay.

Relocations require approval from the Can-Am Organisation as it involves more than just the team moving (realignment of divisions/conferences, effect on other franchises within the regions of relication).

Further to this, teams that have had poorer seasons will be given priority in relocation over teams who have been more successful. Also new franchises will also be given priority of location over older franchises should any team fold between seasons.

If the Calgary Mountaineers or any other team wish to relocate between seasons, please submit a relocation application to the Can-Am organisation and your application will be taken into consideration once the season has finished.

BREAKING NEWS

Submissions for Season 2 of the Can-Am will open the week following the Voittajat Bowl.

A new thread will be created and replace this seasons thread. All current teams and locations will be listed in the OP for reference and will be edited once people confirm their participation/withdrawl or if they are proposing relocation/rebranding.

The submission process will have the following guidelines:

Existing teams will be given priority.

Teams wishing to relocate/rebrand will be required to submit an application outlining the reasons for these changes (must be solid reasons as relocations will affect division/conference alignments). Relocations will only be accepted if no new bids wish to be located in that city/region.

New bids will also be accepted and will fill voids created by teams not renewing or replacing one team from designers with multiple teams, locations without current teams will be given priority over locations with several teams or small less populous locations. New bids will also take priority over locations where a team may wish to relocate.

People with more than two teams will be required to select a primary and secondary team. Should the total number of teams exceed the total maximum number of teams (32) the chosen secondary team will be removed from the competition and placed as a reserve should any others pull out and will be reentered in order of need.

NAFL is at 36 teams, this is 32, simple math says there are enough designers out there to fill this easily.
Yeah, but they're different competitions. I for one feel apathy to a lot of the teams here because there's just so many.

A resides team playing a seniors team in the grand final doesn't work. Make them have equal designing level, mix it up a bit.

The way it is looking the final this year is going to be really close, though with that being said the teams that I thought would run away with the competition this season have failed to make it so it is a toss up to how it will play out.

If all teams, or at least a majority of teams return, there will be no or few conference changes. The level that people have gone up is making the divide close anyway so there should be no need to make sweeping changes as the two conferences will begin to get closer to each other.

I'm not particularly confident that i'll beat the Naedoese in the the voittajitiajat bowl

Actually i've been fairly confident all year that i'd get to the final but i've been worried about them all year. I'm really proud of my Indiana kit but the Nadoes design is really cool.

Suggestion: Reduce the massive # of teams

Yeah, but they're different competitions. I for one feel apathy to a lot of the teams here because there's just so many.

My decision to do qualifying and cull FIRA down to 12 league spots, of which nobody is guaranteed a spot, was directly as a result of this sort of effect.

The NAFL is different because it's on another level, but seeing 30+ new designs in one hit is a bit overwhelming and it definitely affects how many votes you get, because people just can't be arsed voting in 16 games.

Plus qualifying means I get the absolute best entries in the league, but also everyone gets a shot with the cup so there's something for everyone.

I get all of that, but this competition was set up to right the wrongs of that failed competition that we shall not speak of. This one allows the most number of people to enter and have the chance of playing against the most number of people from all different levels of skill while still only being 17 rounds plus finals.

The number of votes was never really any less than the other non promoted competitions.

In reality no matter what I do there will be issues, be it people missing out because there are not enough spots or too many spots and people not wanting to see that many designs. So as I think this season was successful, I am not going to make any major changes.
