FTA-TV Canned laughter...what's that all about

Pretty sure if you heard any laughing during Friends then it must have been canned.

Friends happened to be on the TV the other day in my house and we were eating dinner in another room. Could barely hear the dialogue but the canned laughter every 7.5 seconds was so annoying that I got up and turned it off.

I had a similar situation.

I couldnt find the remote soon enough though, so in my desperation took to my eyes and ears with a cheese grater instead.

Sweet, sweet relief.

show.

Was this a reaction to Friends or the canned laughter?

I liked Friends when it was current but it had aged badly. Whereas Seinfeld keep getting better. Wouldn't know if Seinfeld had canned laughter because I'm ALWAYS loling during that

Don't mind it usually.

For some reason I seem to remember the bubbling eruption of canned laughter on Mr Bean. There would usually be one or two hysterical women erupting in there. Mr Bean is the perfect type of show for it as well, as usually a set piece will become ever more humorous as it continues, and Mr Bean is largely non-reliant on dialogue.

Mr Bean is an artform in canned laugher.
