Carlton Board Draft/List Management Game - Draft Thread

Really sorry for my absenteeism for the last half of the game. As you all know I did go away for 2 and a half weeks and was hoping to touch in every now and again, as I was able to for my first couple of picks. However my friend ended up in hospital overseas and, understandibly, my priorities changed. Hope the remainder of the game went smoothly, and apologies again.

B&S, if it is not too much trouble, could you please also update each teams' list leaving only those players who are yet to be picked? Otherwise it is going to take me quite literally hours to cross correlate the draft order with the team lists.

Hold on just had an idea.

Have done everything but individuals teams. If people want to PM me their complete list it will make it a lot easier. Will send requests for this around now.

Also I think that we should decide the winner via two methods.

1. A secret poll conducted by PM of who the players think did the best. 5-4-3-2-1 probably the best

2. A public thread where other posters are invited to vote on best team

With the last one someone will have to point me to the instructions on how to set up a poll.

Ok so the remainder of my picks (finally):
90 - Zac Dawson
98 - Josh Hunt
103 - Shannon Byrnes
114 - Michael Johnson
130 - Chris masten
146 - Kane cornes
162 - Lewis roberts-Thompson
178 - Tyson goldsack

That's 29 you. Have 1 more pick

Pick 160 - Josh Hunt

Needed to add some toughness to my side, and my backline lacked a genuine back pocket. Hunt fits the bill, and his experience helps also. At 29, only my second backman over 25 so he won't make it too old.

Sorry hunt's gone

So, coming from furthest back with a horrible list to begin with, here is my end result

FB: Duigan-- Carlisle-- Harbrow

HB: Bower-- Maxwell -- Docherty

CC: Melksham-- Watson-- Wells

HF: Higgins-- Patto-- Krakour

FF: Karnezis-- Dixon-- Matera

RR: Wood -- Judd-- Cooney

Int: Hampson-- Couch-- Prismall-- Hogan

Emg:
1. Curran NMFC CHF
2. Forster FFC mid sized DEF
3. Sheridan FFC Inside Mid
4. PYKE SydFC Ruck
5. Ellis RFC HF/HB
6. Astbury RFC CHF/ FB
7. Sinclair CollFC Small mid
8. Dan Stewart PAFC KPF/ Ruck

I have gone for a nice mix of experience and youth, and attempted to get a very quick list. Judd, Wells, Cooney, Matera, Higgins, Harbrow, Bower, Krakour, and some of the young kids are all quick and/ or great top speed.

Have a midfield for the ages with Judd, Watson, Cooney, Wells, Melksham, Prismall, Higgins and Krakour all able to go now. Plus a few of the young guys will be pretty handy too.

Defense has old heads in Maxwell and Duigan (even though he has only played 20games!), mixed with pace in Harbrow, Bower and Docherty. Add to that a small gamble of Carlisle becoming the dominant player many believe he willl be.

The forward line is young, but extremely talented. Dixon kicked about 22 goals for GC in a bad team that got whacked every week. I would be happy to get 30 goals out of him and I think with the delivery he would get, it would be easy. Patton we all know about. Then add the pace and trickery of Higgins, Matera, Krakour and Karnezis. Should be able to get some good fwd line pressure out of them.

Emergencies are mostly decent development players and a few top 30 picks. Only guys I would probably delist are Pyke, and Stewart, but Pyke is a handy backup ruck and love his hardness. Didnt realise Stewart hasnt come on at all.

Anyways, this has been awesome! Can't wait to see everyones teams and discuss!

Good balance. I did the same analysis (borrowed from FT too!), after I got my initial list to begin with, helped target my needs which was mainly building a defense from not much, I should update it.

I like it. .. One of the things I did on my initial list was below. ..

Edit: My only issue with that chart of yours is the lack of a Utility option. ..

Edit2: Thought I'd give it a try. ..

Edit4: Red - Drafted, Black - Randomized, Green - Secondary position (* Primary)

Edit3: BTW open images in a new window to get a better size. ..

Wow! Looks like a lot of effort has gone into this by some participants :thumbsu:

Sometimes I think making spreadsheets are one of my hobbies. .. www.footywire.com is quite handy too. .. ;)

* Kind of like googling/wiki-ing any foreign concept I come across
