"Aaron Greaves will help to enhance the development of the coaching group, inclusive of meetings, training and in the coaches box, with the objective to instil a performance plan for each assistant and development coach."

Anyone?

 He isn’t coaching the senior team, but what an interesting way to look at things.
Anyway, I thought it was worth a thought.

Not as such, but if we've brought in Russell so that Hansen can run the coaches box while Voss runs the bench, then that's a lot of responsibility for Hansen. Having him coach the reserves as well would seem a stretch - not just because of the gameday requirements, but because Senior Assistant is a significant role in itself, and every hour he spent focusing on coaching the reserves (oppo analysis, review, strategy, selection, etc.) is a valuable hour taken away from working towards a senior premiership.

Sorry, I didn't mean to come across as dismissive as I likely did. You're right that it's worth a thought as we probably want as strong a ressies side as possible and as much consistency between the two sides as we can get. I think that has to come from putting a capable reserves coach in the role though, and having them align their gameplan and methodology with the senior coaching group, rather than splitting the focus of the senior assistant.

It's why we've brought in Russell, to avoid this issue with forward line coaching

Luke Power remains as VFL coach

Just on Jordan Russell, I think he was Captain of Dogs VFL side in 2016 when they won the VFL Premiership with Ash Hansen as coach... should have a good working relationship...

"Head of Coaching and Performance and Stuff Like That"

On serious note, I wouldn't be surprised if he moves on soon because I'd think this role is one where you come in a setup structures and processes and then your work is done. Move on to the next organisation.

Think he may be integral link for Vossy, he was the one that pulled him specifically for the role from PTA.

Not sure but you'd imagine that a decent amount of his role is QA which would see the role as an ongoing position.

Who else is coming back as an assistant coach? Paul Bower?

Russell was a key component of the flipping brothers back in the day, found ourselves saying the word a lot when talking about them…so in light of that, Sporn, Livingston and Wiggo to make up the original quartet

Btw, before anyone gets their knickers in a knot, that was about their abilities to frustrate playing the game. No idea how good a coach he is and I wish him the best!!

Elite forwardline coaching would be my at the top of my wishlist.

A team with strong marking targets in Charlie/Harry/Martin + TDKs cameos ought to be functioning better than ours did in 2023. I think this comes down to a combination of average coaching + unavailability through injury/form. Regardless, I don't think we have a system in place that maximises our ridiculous strengths.

Yeah, our forwardline work has been poor and that has been the case even when that was Teague’s portfolio.

Plus better ball use (connection) into fwd50 wouldn’t go astray. Saw some improvement in that at times later in the season.

Correct ... he provides management and guidance for the coaching group ... work that doesn't end and can be a real burden for a senior coach when an area/individual is underperforming ...
