Carlton: illegitimate finalists

This thread was worth it just for the photoshop by Tennant. Is there a permanent Hall of Fame for photoshop work? There should be.

Whether they are legitimate and whether they will do any good are two separate questions.
1. Yes.
2. They might get past either Collingwood or Richmond, but the cup is the top 4's to lose this year.

I wish I could take credit for it, but I'm unable to. Link was sent to me on Facebook a few days ago. Whoever did it did a great job, quite amusing.

Meh. If it has to be this way then I'm happy enough for Carlton to have it. In terms of equalisation it's probably the AFLs favoured option too.

Simply because its likely to be Carlton's last final for quite some time.

While we are just talking random trash, how goes the ASADA investigation? "Simply because" its also likely to be Essendon's last almost final for quite some time.

So enjoy next week Carlton. Saviour it.
I wasn't enjoying it that much until flog Essendope supporters started to sook, but now you guys have made it highly enjoyable. Even if we go down by 10 goals next week I would have a smile if I just remember this thread :D.

You told us you were coming, and come you did
You told us you were going to do what ever it took, and you sure took a lot.

Maybe you should enjoy it while you still have a team of players? It is not beyond the realm of possibility that you list might consist of Goddard and Zaka by sometime next year. Peace out.

A bl

A blatant troll post on the main board, with a token question at the end. Vintage Lance.

After all your hard work on the drugs board, you produce this whine? What an inglorious end to your season.

It eerily reflects the season of Essendope.

This thread was going to be made no matter who made it. Come up with reasons for 'illegitimate' finalists for each '9th' team.

Carlton - Season overshadowed by rumors of mass cleanout of players and discipline issues. Choked both games against Essendon, were competitive most games except for a recent couple of weeks where Fremantle and the Dogs both smashed them in general play. But they are there, which is what matters.

North - Choked in numerous games, couldn't deal with pressure. Would have likely been a competitive finalist, looking at %, but not a winner and if you can't consistently close games out after being 5 goals up or thereabouts (Geelong, WC, Adelaide, Brisbane, GC) you're not going to make finals.

Adelaide - Thumped by Sydney in horrible performance, inconsistent all year, relied on Dangerfield. Choked against Port in a match that would have seen them playing finals had they have won.

Brisbane - Apparently season wasn't good enough to keep the coach. Thrashed by the Dogs in round 1, thrashed by North, Sydney and Hawthorn. Scraped over the Dogs and Demons in recent weeks

West Coast - Enough said. Injuries killed them. Nowhere near finals in the end.

End of the day, Essendon were suspended because Essendon's presence would be even more of a distraction than the presence of an 'illegitimate finalist'. If Essendon had won a final, it would have really cast a dark eye over the competition with ASADA yet to finalise their investigation (players unlikely to cop infractions but the possibility remains).

So the 9th place team is Essendon, that's what has been determined and that's the ball game.

North and Brisbane miss out this year but at least appear to be on the up, good young lists that will get better and both should play finals within a year or two.

Whereas the disastrous state of the Carlton list (all consistent key contributors nearing retirement) says theyre going to be in a fair bit of pain over the next few years, as Malthouse has now doubtlessly realised he unfortunately has a full knockdown and rebuild on his hands.

So enjoy next week Carlton. Saviour it. You told us you were coming, and come you did (what was the peak for this group? A 5th place finish? Beats winning spoons I guess). Next few years may not be much fun but you never know, MM has shown in the past he can deliver the goods.

I wouldn't be getting too cocky about the future just yet Bunk-bed, there is another organisation who are still yet to give you the "all-clear".

You have as much chance of "winning it" as Essendon, frankly. Do you think you are a deserving finalist? Honest question?

Why are we any less deserving than West Coast or Adelaide or Brisbane or North? We've beaten those 4 teams, won more games than them and therefore finished higher. Why are we a less deserving finalist than them?
