The largest attendance ever recorded for a single day event at the MCG was the Billy Graham Crusade in 1959 with a total of 130,000Wow we will get 120k at the g again??!
120k is for minnows, seems the other religion? has outdone football.

Nah, Blues are a juggernaut. If this current dawn is not false, which it doesn't look like it is, you watch them crack 110k+ members in the next couple of years.I always thought Richmond were slightly bigger, but could be wrong.

You would have to think so without a doubt in act and qld, there’s lots of wa expats in nt so i can see there being more there, theres by definition more eagles expats in vic and vice versa in wa. There’s almost certainly more vic expats in nsw.
Dunno about sa
Yeah surprisingly there’s a relatively huge saints fanbase in geraldton where I live, saints had a few local boys in their team in the 70’s and they just stuck with them. Poor bastards. Not just expats in Wa and SA lots of people begun following Vic sides from the VFL days over there.
There's plenty in Tassie too for the same reason, quite a few Tassies in the St Kilda side, in the 60s/early 70s. Stewart, Baldock, Howell, Bonney, Lawrence.........Yeah surprisingly there’s a relatively huge saints fanbase in geraldton where I live, saints had a few local boys in their team in the 70’s and they just stuck with them. surely your not counting the 1924 Essendon flag?Well you guys did have a head start, so thats a fair comment.
flags won since we joined the AFL in 1908
Carlton 14
Essendon 14
Collingwood 13
Richmond 13
54 flags and 60 runners up between us in the last 114 years is a pretty big representation
Supporter numbers are close depending on where we all sit on the ladder and we are all now in the top tier for wealth.
The more big 4 teams in finals the better IMO, big noisy crowds the old rivalries amongst supporters, you just cant beat it.
Would Carlton draw 95k to a preliminary final against GWS?
would get 130K if it was possible..Would Carlton draw 95k to a preliminary final against GWS?
"I'd give it all back for just one game at Carlton" - David BeckhamWhen you think of the world's biggest sporting clubs: Dallas Cowboys, Manchester United, New York Yankees, Real Madrid, sitting right along side them, if not at the top, is the Carlton Football Club.
Shhhh.Serious question.
Do supporters have to be human?
Because if pets count, Richmond is right up there.
Ah Carlton supporters. How we’ve missed youIt's true Richmond is a name that is big within AFL circles, but unlike Richmond, Carlton is one of those brands that goes beyond the AFL and reaches every corner of the globe.

Your not even the biggest sporting club in Victoria, let alone Australia, or the world. It's true Richmond is a name that is big within AFL circles, but unlike Richmond, Carlton is one of those brands that goes beyond the AFL and reaches every corner of the globe.

We have more supporters than Richmond according to Roy Morgan and going past them in memberships would be icing on the cake.Watch the member numbers next year. Carlton will smash the tigers in memberships.
The bandwagon support of both sides is huge. Essendon who have had no success and frankly an embarrassing 20 years will have more members than Richmond.
Fair chance by 2025 we will have more than Richmond also.
No current season stats available

Poor insecure Geelong supporters, always so desperate to be one of the big boysWatch the member numbers next year. Carlton will smash the tigers in memberships.

I'm not suggesting we'll be bigger than Richmond but we've consistently been around 6th/7th highest since 2006 and that was before winning multiple Premierships.Poor insecure Geelong supporters, always so desperate to be one of the big boys
