Carlton to break consecutive MCG games attendance ( by a long way )

But it was a Carlton home game at the MCG in round 22, on your way to making finals for the 1st time in a while and you got 68k….

Look, this is obviously important to you, so I’ll let you enjoy it. Most others are comfortable where we are.

Congratulations.
Congratulations Ego GIF

Important to me? I was replying to your post regarding a team that you don't follow. Wouldn't that indicate that it was as least as important to you?

Carlton are about to do something that NO team has done before. Pretty special. Watch the juggernaut take off . It's OK to be envious
Why do you reply to the same post twice?
Why am I envious?

Yep, shows how insignificant the Docklands teams are if MCG teams prefer to play in Tassie.
Be interesting to see where your Tasmania games are played when the Tasmania tap is turned off. Clearly they won't be at the G as Carlton and Essendon are looking to move more games there. They may have to be at............dare I say it........Marvel.

Maybe your dwindling membership base could all get together (along with all of your pet members) and spruce up Glenferrie and play all of your games there?

But they will break that record as well for HOME games at the MCG. You denying that it won't happen ? ( Geelong are will be in this current run if HOME games if you are informed already )
I'm not denying anything. Good on Carlton if they do it.

Why are you so defensive?

Minnow clubs copying what the successful teams do...

But to get this back on topic, its great that so many are going to H & A games, given they dont get to see Grand Finals.

Better to be good than ‘big’
If you want to be part of something ‘big’ maybe start following the Indian cricket side who can pack games out in another country.
Bragging about being big in 1 state of a game played in 1 country is cringy.
Maybe follow a major soccer club if that’s what gets you up and about.

That's kind of bizarre.

You do know that this is a site about AFL?

Why would there be a discussion about who is the biggest soccer club on here.

Maybe you should go to a site devoted to big soccer teams and impart your wisdom there.

I wasn’t replying to you, but hey, leads to the question why are Blues fans are so sensitive?

If you are searching for a pat on the back, keep it in house.

If it’s up for discussion on the main forum, well I just pointed out how flawed a meaningless stat it is.

Although I think they were the 1st club giving free memberships out existing members’ friends.

They wouldn’t leave me alone. I had to break a friendship just to cease getting hassled by the Carlton Football Club.

You see the thing with circles is that they eventually always go around. Your team had a good run on field. However before you know it the wheel has turned and it's almost 10 years since you won a final (2015). Your team made some good off field decisions and reaped the rewards. However the wheel is turning and soon you won't get any more free money from the Tasmanian government.

And that will leave you where you actually are, a mid range Victorian team scrapping with the rest of them for an occasional marquee game and being forced to play more and more games at Marvel because you don't have the pulling power of other teams.

It is of course ridiculous to say that a team that has won the equal most premierships in the comp don't see grand finals. I have seen us win 8, but that just means I'm getting old.

The two important things are that as a club that we have got our act together and are putting all of the pieces in place for success (doesn't guarantee us of anything but it means that people are keen to come along for the ride) and that our membership numbers continued to spike even when we were going badly.

In 2016 Hawhorn had 75,351 members and Carlton 50,130. It appears that Hawthorn are under 80,000 members currently (including about 10,000 Tasmania members that will soon disappear) whilst Carlton have over 100,000 members

So you guys have heaps of members who for the 37th year in a row wont have seen their team legitimately win a flag.

Cool brag.
