Carlton's list of non-recycled players

This is why clubs like Carlton have been so successful over the years. Because they have been able to procure and/or steal good players from lesser clubs. Flash some cash, get your man.

That is why they have 16 flags whilst minnows, such as Hawthorn for eg, are stuck all the way back at 10.

Minnow clubs, such as Hawthorn for eg, are not able to flex any muscle to procure good players from other clubs and hence will always stagnate in the middle of the premiership ladder.

LOLZIES.

Carlton are a disgrace.

You're irrelevant nowdays, unless of course you want something to laugh at. Noone respects them, and everyone bar our own in football community laughs at them.

Anything you achieve in the forseeable future will forever hold the ire of the wider footballing community (that being everyone but your own scurrilous lot). You tank, you cheat, you lie, and are souless.

I laugh at the fact your lot won 5 flags before we were even incepted into the League, then laud it over us as if it makes an actual difference when comparing sides. Do you think WC, Adelaide and all the other interstate teams give two shits about the irrelevant flags, the ones they weren't even there to fight out for?

No? Well you'd be right.

And considering where we have come from - from not being able to pay our players, being in constant financial turmoil, being a League 'minnow' for so many years (compared to the big powerhouses of the AFL like Carlton) - we've come a LONG way.

It's 11 - 10 since we've been around.

Seems to me such a big strong and powerful club like Carlton have been underachieving if a minnow club like Hawthorn be matching them since their inception. Let alone become the most successful teams in the last 50 years (or whatever it was).

Carlton - buying mediocrity for years.

LOL.

Look, I'll give credit to Hawthorn for winning 10 flags which is more than a number of other clubs, including clubs that were around before them.

But realistically, Hawthorn won half their flags in a period of 9 years in the mid 80s to early 90s. Hardly what you'd call a major force in the big scheme of things. In fact, Hawthorn has spent most of their history as the skidmark of the league (quite literally) and has actually won more spoons than flags (i could be wrong - they may have the same number of spoons as flags)

Every club, every year, gets a 1st round pick  We have only the single No.1 pick, and that was traded for. You guys have three  . In a row
And? How does that make them any worse then your stack of top 10 picks?

Hodge
Franklin
Lewis
Roughead
Ellis
Thorp
Dowler

All these players and more were "won" not earned just like Carlton. Add that to Guerra, Dew, Croad plus more draft picks traded for = recycling draft picks Hawthorn are infact worse then Carlton at it.

Carlton "recycle" for players like Judd, Stevens and Scotland whereas Hawks do the same but with draft picks and pick up young players.

So who has Hawthorn actually got that aren't high draft picks or Recycled draft picks?

And they're all guns. Compare that to some of Carlton's top ten picks, hacks like russell and walker,

The point of this thread is to point out what poor drafting Carlton does. Which is why they tend to go for recyclables :thumbsu:

Haha, the point seems to have defeated you.

I'm not claiming we're a superpower of the AFL - but merely pointing out that Carlton (the 'superpower') have grossly underachieved for so many years, considering their self proclaimed status.

Especially when you consider the fact that minnow side (that's a 'skidmark' on the competition) has practically broke even since they've been incepted into the League.

Embarrassing really.

So many years? We have been shit from 2002 to 2008 (2004 and 2008 werent that bad but I'll include them here for arguments sake). That's 7 seasons out of a total of 112. A minor glitch really.

Do you look at a million dollar Rolls Royce and think its a shit car because it has a tiny scratch on its rear hubcap? No, you dont.

Ahh, woops, wrong thread..

You've actually had two - Alex McDonald and Luke Hodge.

Yep, Alex played a big role in the Grand Final win....

I'm pretty sure we traded for that pick too - you know, given we haven't finished last since the 1960's.

How did you get your 3 #1 draft picks again?

I'm sure you were shit other years  Early 90s you guys were a joke.

Just off the top of my head, the Premiership players who weren't high picks or players from other clubs were Mitchell, Brown, Young, Sewell, Williams, Osborne, Campbell, Renouf, Crawford. Taylor and Murphy played most of the year.

1990: 8th
1991: 11th
1992: 7th or 8th
1993: 2nd

Nothing special but not a joke?

Infact, 1991 was our lowest ever finish up to that point in time. We finished 11th again in 97 and 98 and were ok up until the current period of crapness (02-08). Fancy that, 11th being your worst ever in 100 odd years of footy.

So to refute your statement, no were never shit in other years.

CARLTANK - proudly tanking or playing like shit since 1991 - as endorsed and proven by Barry Zuckercorn QC - TOO SHIT TO TANK.

Nothing better than watching Hawthorn and Carlton supporters fighting over who the biggest tanker is.

You are both completely awesome tanking teams and will go down in history as such.

Why fight about it though. You should really merge to form an uber tank. :thumbsu:

Pick a good one. Can't be a recycled player, can't be a No.1 draft pick (too easy, you just pick the one who has the most hype around him).

God that's a hard one.

I was going to say Saddington or Ackland, but they're recycled.

Pfeiffer, Hadley, Stevens, Judd, Warnock, Bannister, Cloke, Scotland.....

No, no, no, no, no, no, no and no.

Wiggins maybe??
