Im sure Tepper wants to, but its hardly the time to hit the city and tax payers up for a handout to build a new one when you've driven the team into the ground.
 
What ive gathered about the Panthers from the first two days from beat writers:

  • Bryce Young, still struggling it seems (although was raining heavily in Charlotte today so maybe a bit of an excuse there). Defense clearly have won the first two days going off the reports.
  • Xavier Legette, 0 catch day yesterday going against Jaycee Horn, couldn't get open. Think he had just 1 today. Was honest about it at his press conference at least saying he was disappointed in himself and needs to be better.
  • Run game looks better with Bryce under centre more and an improved interior of the Oline, Hubbard and Sanders taking the snaps and making a few nice gains. Sanders playing more as the third down back.
  • JT Sanders, TE2 behind Ian Thomas is a bit concerning, seems they dont trust him in blocking, using him more as a WR on 3rd down, lining up in the slot and out wide at times.
  • K'lavon Chaisson, starting opposite Clowney at DE while DJ Woonum is still recovering from his torn quad. WHAT A STARTING DUO!! Clowney and Chaisson have to be the worst starting DEs in the NFL by a mile. Which in turn makes you worry about Young struggling even more.

Not too surprising going against Horn, he's ****ing good. Should be talked about as a top 5 corner by now if it wasn't for the injuries. Whenever he's been on the field he's been elite.
 
Glad we traded up a spot to get our guy in the first round, that 5th year team option looking very valuable:

Legette (foot) is listed behind Jonathan Mingo on the Panthers' initial depth chart released ahead of Carolina's first preseason game Thursday against New England.
Joe Person of The Athletic reports that there's more to be desired in Legette's camp performance thus far, as he hasn't made any "head-turning plays" and has been outperformed by Mingo and Terrace Marshall. Legette missed the last few weeks of spring with a hamstring issue and is now dealing with a foot injury as well, which could be detrimental to building chemistry with Bryce Young before the 2024 season. Person also stated that he expects head coach Dave Canales to find ways to get the ball in Legette's hands throughout the season, but he still has a long way to go and needs all the practice reps he can get at this time. It seems like it'll be an uphill battle for Legette to start the Panthers' 2024 campaign as one of the team's top three wideouts, but that could change if he begins to show out after returning from injury.

Pretty baffling we aren’t seeing any first team reps.

Team just had 2 wins with a woeful offence and now new coaching staff. Surely benefit in some real game time practice.
