Probably our best midfielder with Murphy out, especially since he plays to his strengths now. When he's near a contest he always makes something happen, even without a clean possession he makes sure he gets it to a bloke, sometimes almost freakishly so.

Hard worker and sheer heart and soul as well as a clever footballer. Major man love at the moment.

Good to see him back tonight, never realised how important he is to our side till he got injured.

His hard work, smarts around a pack and pressure is something we need more of.

Just quietly, Murphy doesn't go too badly...

Agreed. However, it takes much, much more than star football players to win premierships. We've got enough "Hollywood" type players. What we need to focus in on in trade period is to take a look at opposition cast offs who fit this role - live for the team, die for the team - and get them to the club. Much closer than we think even with Judd apparently on his last legs. With Judd playing so poorly and with Murphy out of the team among others, it fills me with hope that this team can win a flag if we can add a couple of hard at it vets to the team.

Sydney, Geelong and even our last premiership team were aided by the addition of these types. It can be done.

Here is a thought.... At the end of this season and for next season only I'd replace Judd as captain. Completely remove any and all side stresses from him that are football related. His on field leadership will say it all. I'd make Carrots captain of the club for a season. A captain doesn't always have to be your best player but he needs to be inspiring, tough as nails, etc, etc. Carrots fills the key criteria in spades.

Was outstanding tonight, clearly our best player for mine.

Was skeptical about the decision to play him but he certainly showed it was the correct call. I thought he was, understandably, quite reluctant early on to take the hits but as the game wore on he clearly became more comfortable out there and really started getting his hands dirty.

Incredible what a difference he makes through the midfield. Far and away our best defensive midfielder - tough, can find the ball and really works hard for the team.

Can't speak higher of him. If some of the other boys took a leaf out of his book, we'd be an immeasurably better team for it.

Fantastic to see him back out there.

Not only our best defensively, but his disposal by hand in congestion put the rest of the team to shame. Constantly handballed to the advantage of players in space, allowing us to get a relatively clean disposal. A large improvement on the panicky handballs that have been a feature of our game in recent weeks.

Could we see Marc Murphy return for the pies game? Sling comes off sometime during the week. Keeping in mind it was a similar injury to Andy Carrazzo. We have the bye, Hawks & then the pies. That gives Murphy another 3 weeks & will be in a similar position to Carrazzo re 7 week lay off.

From the Coach's Box email I just received ...............

Ratts : -
I take my hat off to Andrew Carrazzo. For "Carrots" to come off an eight-week layoff and do what he did in quelling Daniel Kerr's influence was outstanding - as was Heath Scotland, who competed superbly in his return after overcoming a calf strain.

Though a decision is still yet to be made, Andrew will more than likely get another game under his belt with the Northern Blues next weekend.

Loved his poise! to the carlton supporter who bagged carrots out in the North Melbourne practice match on the press box wing, claiming at the top of his voice "Carlton will never win a premiership whilst carrazzo was in the team" Suck sweaty balls!!!

Handy Andy :thumbsu:

HOW CARLTON has missed Andrew Carrazzo.

Eight long weeks he'd been out of the team before Thursday night but he immediately jumped back into the fold as the best Blue in another tight loss to a fine side.

He started as a defensive forward on Eagles superboot Shannon Hurn but did his best work when switched to Daniel Kerr in the second term.
