Don't really see how you can blame the AFL for this one, I felt the corporate governance penalty was harsh, but if players/officials were knowingly cheating, they deserve everything coming to them, and if so, I like Jade, am done with the club.

I said at the start of all this I wouldn't know how to feel until it was all over. Looks like we still have a few weeks to go...
While it's hard to imagine how I'd react in the same situation, I'd be approaching it as a "taking my club back from the instigators" thing. The club is bigger than any individual. Cut out the cancer, accept there will be a lot of pain, but support the club. The club belongs to the members, hell it is the members. You're not guilty, only the people who put you in this position are.

So over this shit.

Everyone involved in this saga can GAGF.

If a single doping infringement is issued, the club will lose my total financial support.

No membership, player sponsorship, Crichton medal tickets etc.

To accept the penalties we have, when taking the AFL on would almost certainly have seen a different result, to getting players rubbed out, no, that's just not on, not now, not ever.

Some clarity better be coming soon or I walk away from it all.

Pretty much, if the infrations come more will head from WIndy Hill, they'll have to. Still need a lot more before I decide, but is is pretty disapointing at this moment.

So an article posted by be a non-sports journalist in The Australian of all rags at midnight last night still has not generated 1 line of print from The Hun, The Age nor AFL.com.au.

Either it is complete bullshit or the article has blindsided everyone else. I have my money on the former.

We all know the ASADA part isn't over, they want to speak to Dank before finalising the report, and even without Dank they need to produce a final report. ASADA dudes doing paperwork does not equal infraction notices.

Who wrote that story is the most concerning part of this story. Look at her record with breaking ASADA stories. Shane Warne and Cycling in 2004. It seems like a nothing story until you see who wrote it. Wow.

Also meant to add, I'm not dismissing the article at all keeping it as very very possible but, articles like this have come out like clockwork, the somewhat good news from yesterday, is overshaddowed today by this the same happened with Watley's AOD9604, Patrick SMith was on twitter saying nothing has changed wait until tomorrow you'll see. Sure enough an AFL statement came the next day.

It's very political in nature. I do hope it isn't true.

Yeah, you make a good point, and this is why we need the full story.

I've tried very hard to not come to any conclusions until the announcements are made, but it's such a big story it's difficult to resist speculating. The problem is when all the speculation gets mixed up and presented as fact (on both sides of the fence).

One thing though, I suspect you're right about the political nature of the releases. It's both amazing and concerning to realise the power the AFL has in this regard. Having so many clubs beholden to the AFL exec and therefore unable to independently challenge their actions is a very unhealthy situation IMO.

Let's make the very grand assumption that infraction notices are issued to players.

I'll still love the club (can't turn that off), but I can't just go on and continue to empty the wallet (so to speak) for the club.

I can't speak for everyone, but my personal contributions to the club would amount to ~$1500-2000 a year through membership, player sponsorship, events, donations etc etc.

So, and keeping in mind the assumption made, I've been a 'good little supporter' and you've taken my small contribution and used it to inject young men entrusted to your care with substances that at best have wrecked their careers, and at worst damaged their health.

No. **** you. You won't get a cent more from me.

Fair enough. It's the kind of event where you do get to make your own decision and shouldn't be judged for it.

The AFL is getting to FIFA levels of corrupt. Again news that there may have been holes in the case against us are covered by news we're apparently receiving infractions, and that a former member of the club had severe issues with our program. This is complete horse shit.

A concern, only good thing I could see is perhaps that it was all before ASADA came into force.

Because Hird didn't fall on his sword back in April - I am unsure whther this meant to stand down while the ASADA investigation was taking place or resigning - It's well known that the others read Thompson/Reid/Corcoran were thrown into the mix because EFC wouldn't stand Hird Down - Think I've pinned down most of the missing pieces in this sage, although there are still one or two missing pieces.

Think there is some delusional thinking re;selection process to fill the so-called interim coaching position. I can't see any conceivable reason to have a full process - We have enough suitable candidates in and out of the club to take on this position. After all, Melbourne filled there position without a selection process.
Which shows Hird did the right thing initially by not participating in corrupt behaviour.

I hear you Jade, but it's not the clubs fault. We've been screwed and screwed again by the AFL. Take your anger out on them.

Can't agree, if the infraction notices come they are our fault, I don't like how the AFL handled this but if the infration noticesa come and they don't hold up to any defence we might have, can't blame teh AFL for that.

--------------

we all knew re warne and cycling ( that going back decades ) .. what about australians in comm games and olympic games taking illegal drugs ,,,,,, she doesnt tackle large issues .

Has anyone pointed out that ASADA doesn't "prepare" infraction notices. ASADA hands out infraction notices. They don't wait for illegal reports on governance to finish, they go whack as soon as they have any evidence.

AFL: "We have to drop charges against Doc Reied, they won't stand up in an independant court!, We are going to look like total tools"
PR Machine: "Leave it to us..."Infraction notices, EFC Bad, bad, bad, Drugs in Sport,
EFC Supporters: "**** no, whats going on. Is it real?"
General Public: " Doc who?"

AFL: "Mission Accomplished"

Looking for other articles on it but the AFL site seems to have frozen with no new articles since last night.

Anyone else getting the same? Doesnt seem to have been updated at all today.

Could it be that the AFL removed all cheating charges against the club such that they will not enter into a double jeopardy type situation? They have punished us for governance, if ASADA recommend infraction notices they can then hammer us on doping charges?

I had a whole different reply typed up before that thought popped into my head and it made me feel sick. I wouldn't put it beyond the AFL.
Essendon's lawyers should notify their insurers if they let that massive loophole through. Assuming AFL has any power to give a release from ASADA related infringements...

I certainly bloody hope that in the midst of Essendon being bent over the negotiating table they had the presence of mind to ensure adequate releases were included in the Great American Challenge that was presented to them.

I came to the same thought this morning. I wouldn't go as far as to say as the AFL did something like this on purpose. It would just be a nice little side benefit.

What is surprising is the club have been in overdrive pushing the next year line. It would seem that if infraction notices do come it will blindside them too. I'm debating putting me membership on hold.

If infraction notices come, I'll be using my membership to a) vote the entire board out and b) support the entirely new football department after the mass sackings/resignations.
