He may he happy in doing that though, truth be told.
Yeah.. then why destroy the club on your way out???

Starting to really understand why he left Geelong in the manner he did.. and hasn't been invited back since.. despite being a Premiership Hero.

The guy knows how to make an exit, that is for sure.

I feel sorry for Heppell.. his fantastic win, at such a young age... which gives him a 'J.Selwood-esque' medal cupboard before the age of 23' stature.. completely overshadowed by a man who may or may not want to coach.. and may or may not want to knife Hird in the back and may or may not be leaving..

Club stole that from Heppell the moment they sacked Hird in the afternoon and told him not to attend.. and then Thompson finished off the job during the count.

Unforgivable all round.

Destroy the club?

Do we really want to talk about coaches who may or may not have destroyed the club?

I mean FFS Rines. Just once look at the bigger picture, not just one ****ing person.

I'm about half a rage away from doing a Jade I think, the shear stupidity of people.....

Hmmm.. appears the tables are turning.. our favourite communication specialist:
http://www.afl.com.au/news/2014-10-08/has-bomber-blown-it

The bloke is a campaigner. Plain and simple. The concern for us is that his content is AFL content and they would appear to not be satisfied with just Hird's head at the moment. The sacking of Hird will simply give the pests a week of headlines before they shift focus and continue the onslaught.

Planting a meringue pie live in air on Barrett's Chevy chase is now firmly on my bucket list now, I might throw in a FHRITP just for good measure.

Haven't been able to follow 100% of posts in this thread so not sure if this has been bought up but wondering if Licka and others are that pissed off that Hird wasn't at the B&F and his overall treatment by the club, Bombers speech wasn't at all helpful for the club either.

Oh, seriously?

Bomber's speech was ill considered but destroyed the club? Come on.
I didn't suggest the speech destroyed the club.

I suggested that the events by both club and Thompson last Wednesday appear more like a 'slash and burn' process rather than a 'leave it stronger than when you arrived' one.

IF he had any doubts about the job, then he shouldn't have made the speech.

I still think there is no excuse for that speech. None.

Right now the club is imploding.. and when did the imploding begin? And I don't mean when did the foamers think it began.. I mean when did it really start to fall down?

My answer to that is last Wednesday.. yes there were leaks before that.. yes there were issues.. but last Wednesday appears to be the straw that broke the camel's back.. and I stand by that.

The actions of last Wednesday appear to have caused a massive amount of damage, for zero gain, and I am still struggling to see how we recover and heal the club.

Bomber has always been a bit of a strange cat.

I think Bomber was pushed into it too, by Tim Watsons (not blaming Tim). Tim said a few times that we'll get to what Bomber is up to next year, twice iirc.

He than said 'Bomber, you don't look like the kind of person that likes the sun too much..."

I think Bomber was put into a position he could not win, indicates he was going to leave, upstaging, non committal, people would still have made an issue about it.

This x 1000.

But if we sack Hird it'll go away and it'll be sunshine and lollipops with the media.

Right?

"Why destroy the club on the way out?"

That is what you said.

That encompasses the last week including the BnF.

Again, Bomber's speech and the club's actions in the past week were most unhelpful.

But you cannot be seriously suggesting that it's been the single most destructive thing in the past two years. It's just the latest in a long litany of balls ups.

Right?
Sacking Hird and the players coming out to say they were drug cheats is supposedly the best thing for the club. And this is coming from the people who are attempting to stress the importance of the club over its people.

Fun idea, things Bomber could have said that would have been 'winning':
Not sure on my future but I have loved this year.
I love this club, no matter what happens, EFC will always be in my heart.
It was a shame how this all came about, but I am grateful to have led this fantastic group this year.
I have loved being around the group this year, I hope I have made things easier for Hird next year.
This is a terrific group of men and I know that they, along with Hirdy and all the coaches, will go places, whether I am here or not.
I am currently considering my options, Hirdy and I will sit down this week and we'll see if I can help next year.
Thank you Hirdy for placing your trust in me to guide your team this year, I hope we have made you proud.
I came to this club to help it become better, to help Hird become better, to help the playing group to become better.. and I think I have done that.
I am proud of my achievements this year and I hope Hirdy and the boys can continue it on next year and win #17 for this great club.
The boys didn't want this to be a gap year just because Hirdy wasn't around and I hope I gave them a sense of fun this year.
The club was pretty divided last year, the penalties hurt our club, but we are back together now, and we can go places.
Hirdy's tan looks good, I might need to go to the Gold Coast to keep up!
You, the supporters, have stuck by this club and you need to keep doing that. Trust in your players, trust in this club, trust in your coaches. We are all in this together.

Yeah.. so I guess there is quite a few things a man, with a PLANNED SPEAKING ENGAGEMENT, could of said that wouldn't have been knifing his mentoree in the back...

I'm not sure what was so difficult about it really.. did Bomber not realise he would be asked about his future? Are we really going to go there that he wouldn't realise it would be asked??

Look at how quickly Barrett has turned on Bomber, how would it be any better if Hird went?
Don't point it out.. apparently Little was going to sit down for another chat with Caro and 'clear things up'...

yeah.. and like I said.. how long before the media goes back to "how Robinson" got to the club etc etc...

But sacking Hird.. that will make it all go away..

As Doss said, the coments did not help.

But Bomber has always been a little off centre with his personality.

Sorry you are offended by the word destroy.

I'll rephrase:
If you may not even coach next year, Why cause angst, panic, confusion, betrayal, fear and disunity on the way out?

And Barrett gonna Barrett
That is all I was trying to say when I posted the article.

I find it amazing how quickly they can turn.. Thompson was 'all the rage' last week.. this week he is not..

Media gonna Media would be more accurate imo.

Sacking Hird and the players coming out to say they were drug cheats is supposedly the best thing for the club. And this is coming from the people who are attempting to stress the importance of the club over its people.

I suppose one way to prove the club is bigger than its people is to shaft each and every one of them systematically.

Precisely. Important to remind every single player, supporter, member and staffer.. just how dispensable they are. How utterly unimportant.

Not important enough to deserve loyalty, the truth, respect or even the need to keep contracts.

Yay... welcome to our new, modern Football Club.
