the general public have been fed with 'essendon dont know what was used and have no records', and as far as I can tell the vast majority believe it. If its not true the club have done a very poor job of dispelling this belief, especially given one of their players has gone to the media stating it.

My post is addressing the Hunter issue - Players know the substances used at the club in 2012 - What can't be verified is exactly who took what substance - The general public are irrelevant to the discussion.

I am not fussed about players using illicit substances - It's a non issue in my mind - Though I suggest Pert needs to resign seeing he has been publically hammering this issue for three years and its falling on def ears at his club.

Didn't Keefe and his buddy take cocaine which contains a substance that is banned by WADA?

Let me see how this works. Two Collingwood players take Cocaine spiked with Clenbuterol, test positive, admit to their failings and are suspended for 2 years.

We have another 11(9) players testing positive to Cocaine. Seeing that Cocaine is spiked with Clenbuterol I am comfortably satisfied that all 11 players at Collingwood have taken Clenbuterol.

I would expect there to be an announcement soon about all standing down and self reporting.

I don't think it's much of a coincidence that the club that's been banging on about this for 3 years is the club who had their results leaked. I don't think Pert/Eddie much minds that the results are out there...

That's some very strong strands right there. Amazing after what suppposedly happened after Keefe and the other bloke.

When were the Collingwood tests taken? Are players able to train when under the influence of banned S6 WADA substances (cocaine etc)? Or is it just in competition that they can't have them?

Just wonder how many of these guys are tested on match day and if any positives were found.

It's from the hair test isn't it? has nothing to do with match day.

Yes and a number of other players who partied at the STKilda Festival - Other players lucky they weren't tested by ASADA at the time - It's still a non-issue what players do in their off-season - And that's what the hair tests show - Off-season fun.

Agree 100% - Hence my suggestion Pert should resign - He's publically put his head on the chopping block.

Why are illicit drugs even mentioned. Makes me sick. Sure we don't want people using amphetamines or cocaine for energy on matchday ... but **** me it's no bodies business if they're doing shit like that on their own time. If it becomes a problem for the player it would effect performance and that should be obvious to the club. Then they need to be spoken with or sacked.

Agreed. Its just not a football issue. We don't test players for STDs, but that doesn't imply approval.

Cue the role model argument in 3.. 2.. 1..

The role model argument goes against the press reporting things that are just not in the public interest. With an election coming up I'd be interested if Shorten, Turnbull or my local candidates had a drug problem because that could effect their judgement.

I certainly hope footballers are not making decisions that set the national agenda, or representing my local area in the national parliament.

Pretty much, I don't want to hear stories about players testing positive to illicit substances. I want to hear about players being suspended for taking them.

If suspending players for taking illicit drugs stops even 1 player getting addicted and ruining their life then it's been worth it.

Stories like Ben Cousins, Steven febey, Dayle Garlett, Gavin Crosisca(who has been able to turn it around), Daniel Kerr need to be stopped from becoming common place. Otherwise there will be more stories like Chris Mainwaring.

Yeah I get illicit is different and not as serious as PEDs but considering the defence of the 2 Pies players who tested positive for PEDs (i.e it must have been mixed with illicit drugs), it's quite extraordinary teammates continued to take illicit drugs.

How? He's been saying it was a problem. He's been proven right.

Well if Pert has no control over his club despite his public protestations - I chuckle at Buckley who wanted to clean up the culture of a successful team - Somehow he got rid of the 'party boys' who could play footy and was left with a bunch of 'party boys' who cant play football.

That has nothing to do with Pert. At all.

Notice that any Age or Herald Sun article on Essendon opens up to public comments and the haters load up, kicking Essendon in the head.

Articles on Collingwood and others do not give the public the ability to comment.

Who is controlling this?

Probably because comments on the illicit positives would lead to people throwing up names of who it could be which could potentially cause issues.
