A Thursday PM recording this week!

Plenty of time to fire in your questions, comments and criticism!

Another win for the pussies.
Got the work done in first half, not ideal to allow the screaming eagles back in but still got the 4 points.
Esava first qtr was magnificent. Great to see the big Clydesdale in the 26 get back to form with 4, moving better. Close very good again. When better Holmes and gardens (max) gets the ball in the open, boy oh boy it’s like the Stawell gift, he’s got genuine speed and it’s great to see.
Kolodjashnij has just slotted back in nicely. Ollie Henry probably should have kicked 5 goals, his last 6 qtrs have provided plenty.
Still not ideal that we allowed the eagles back into the game. Parfitt might need 2-3 weeks in vfl, his disposal could get him working for qantas baggage, he’s lost the pill that many times.
Hopefully Stanley is ok because whilst he’s not Polly farmer, he’s also not Jon ceglar. Also stengle injury not ideal but Rohan returning, also could open the door for Ollie Dempsey who has been in good vfl touch.

We really need a way to sinc our tv to your radio broadcast.
I can’t listen to Dermott anymore, you blokes in the commentary are so blessed not having to sit through his crap calling a Geelong game.

In other news, got the snip last week
Probably could’ve gone and got it at half time during that game, was quite boring knowing the players knew they had the win.

Bloody nice to see Hawks getting back to some good form and Brad Close has been fantastic these past 2 weeks

Looking forward to unveiling the flag with a guy full of kebab meat this Sat night.
Let’s make it 3 in a row

Hope this isn't sacrilegious to ask here - but does anyone know where we can send questions to the official Geelong Cats podcast (with Cameron Ling)?

It's my 2nd fav podcast (behind Cat Attack of course), but still worth a listen.

Injuries giving us a solid run for it at the moment.

Neale can't take a trick - OOC at years end... prob not getting more expensive currently which is great but id rather see him playing.

Of those outside the 25 right now, whom do you see as pushing their way in?

Clark has shown a little in VFL but is too slight currently - no need to push him and let him develop.

Knevitt and Dempsey have been good without blowing the doors off anything - and VFL learning is good for them.

Riccardi and Clohesy have both had moments that made me encouraged they are on the list but are still seasons away.

Willis is a unit but cant get games in a row - Whyte did well for a little bit.

Oscar Murdoch has had a few good moments in VFL too but needs time.

Not a lot pushing up from the VFL level at this time - happy to let them all slow cook.

Any favs of yours you want to see coming up?

GO Catters

PS - Horse got outcoached in the GF - its unlikley he's gonna let it happen twice. We really need to win this too to get back to 3-3. Massive game... agree?

Boys..
I'm not really sure on why people are so worried about Ceglar playing... Geez his few games last year he played were bloody good! Yes his game against Gold Coast was poor, but Stanley is out for a while, so we just have to get use to it...

BUT....I really don't know many teams except Melbourne who there 2nd ruck are Stars. All other 2nd main ruck aren't stars, there all young and have potential or there a ruckman like Ceglar...
Let's support Ceglar and wish him all the best.. I know I'll be supporting Ceglar

But my question is.. if Ceglar body can't hold up for this time and he gets injured.. who and what will we do as a ruck?
Blitz does all the rucking?
Bring in Neale who is more of a forward/ruck ( who currently injured)
Or unfortunately might have to bring Esava out of defence and has to do the rucking

Cheers

Gents. Any chance the tech team can turn on a server setting that allows krockfootball.live to play as a background task on Android. Meaning the sound does not go out when you switch from your browser to another app or your phone goes to screensaver.

Happy to speak to them to help sort it out.
Thanks

The line about the podcast being around since Moses brought the lamingtons to the Last Supper reminded of one of the worst jokes -

What do you call a piece of sponge cake that has been soaked in snot?

Flemington.

———

The “Oh, I’m not a doctor!” line from The Simpsons wasn’t said to Homer; it was said to Selma after a man gave pills to Lisa after she lost her mind drinking the water on the boat ride at Duff Gardens.

From memory the family was supposed to go to Duff Gardens the previous weekend but they had to go Marge’s aunt’s funeral.

Other things, perhaps incorrectly, remembered from that episode:

On the drive to the service the luggage falls off the roof and Bart and Lisa just count the items as it happens.

One of Patty or Selma says Aunt Gladys may be dead but her legend will live on forever. Homer then thinks to himself “the legend of the dog-face woman” and laughs about it and then says it out loud. Marge does not approve.

At the funeral the celebrant gives a eulogy and does not know the deceased was a woman. He was a kind man …

Aunt Gladys made a video last will and testament and she read a poem at the start of it and Homer fast-forwarded through it. Marge scolds him for doing this but everyone else is cool with skipping it. Marge’s mother inherits her sister’s pet iguana Jubjub. Marge inherits a bag of chips that look like celebrities and the twins inherit a grandfather clock. They are also given the advice to start a family. Patty ignores that suggestion but Selma takes it seriously and starts to look around Springfield at her options.

Meanwhile there was a very oversized sandwich at Homer’s work function that went largely untouched. Homer takes it home and continues to eat in the next few days. Continuing to do so after it starts to soil and it makes him seriously ill. Selma then takes Bart and Lisa to Duff Gardens in Homer’s place.

Marge has rented some VHSs for Homer to watch as he recovers. One of them is Yentil and another is The Erotic Adventures of Hercules.

Everything goes wrong at Duff Gardens and Selma returns the kids and feels defeated about being a mother but now will take care of the iguana Jubjub as her mother was trying to stab it with a hat-pin (?) when Patty visited her.

FYI I believe a scene in this episode introduced the world to the concept of “beer goggles”.

Thursday PM recording t

Best win of the season. The midfield dominance was the highlight for me, our miss outworked theirs, and with no real ruckman this made it all the better
Wanted to highlight a couple of real team player efforts. Twice in the first qtr, mark o Connor laid shepherds for team mates, which is rare to see these days. Generally players want the glory and the ball, o Connor is a team first player and was glad to see this.
Our tackling was on all night. Close run down tackle in the wing was techtonic plates shifting sort of stuff, such was the movement downstairs.
Hawk is back, moving much better and his kicking, like his mate Jezza, is spot on.
Gryan miers once again had a great first half, setting up 2 of the first 3 goals. Leading the comp in goal assists. I had to look this up cos I thought an assist was something a doctor had to remove
Also I reckon Jake Kolodjashnij’s last 5 games have been career best. Certainly the prelim, grand final, last week and this, he’s picked his moments well.
Great to have Simpson back, he’s a busy worker, zips around, provides pressure and I think if he stays healthy he’s in the best 22
Back at level pegging 3 and 3, with a 2 day break on the bombers. Here’s hoping Bews is good to go. Go cats and may god bless Moses

Gents..

Nice ninja edits in the Podcast last week Kingy :)

Great call last week and getting the full version from start to finish on KROCKFOOTBALL.LIVE is magic. Its like getting to read all the letters from Paul to the Corinthians rather than just the short bits.

Luv also the relationship between KROCK and the club and you can tell the players actually enjoy the interviews and questions rather than the stock standard stuff others roll out - getting Tomma for 16 mins post game is brilliant.

SDK in the ruck - Kinda like Elle MacPherson in her 70's. You know you want to see it and look long and hard but then go thats enough and no more please as there have to be better options.
With the exploding amount of 200cm KPF in the game we cant risk our best and only 200+ KPD in the ruck.

I get he can do it, and his skills around on the ball were insane... that 20m handball on the left hand that cleared the congestion and led to Close's goal was magestic in the extreme and if Benny wasnt firming in the Murray Rance after Holmes inablity to handball on his left as he pointed out last week then this had to just make him excited - it got me up and about.

Miers, Close, Rohan, Simpson, Atkins, Zuthrie, Kolo - all vital cogs in the wheels of our success have gotten going again and the end result is a thing of beauty.

a 93 point wallopping of the Swans was not expected but mightily appreciated - even if they were depleted.

To this week - Ceglar is a must in to protect SDK from ruck duties. Blitz to chop him out around the ground as Draper and Phillips will go on merry dance- Ceglar this is your moment - new dad... sole ruck position in the team... Sing it like Anthony Warlow from Jekyl and Hyde... "This is the moment"

Can he do it?.... Half the ruck contests and give us first use not sing lile Warlow did?

GO Catters

ps - Keep an eye on Clohesy in the VFL.. Kid can play and puts his head right over it.

EDIT - NEALE SIGNED THRU 2025... GET NUDE ( can you confirm)?

Kingy... Benny Cas actually reminds me a bit like Homer Simpson... ( I mean this with all love thou ) he starts talking about a subject that you are talking about, then all of sudden he sees a box of dounuts and completely changes the subject 😆..

If you ever have Andrew Mackie or Stephen Well on the radio before a game, can you ask him if they are looking for the next Marck Blicavs? Are the teams out there in the competition so jealous of us that we can have a player that can play in 4 different positions and is good at playing where ever he gets told to play,.

Plus I would of rather play Esava as that back up ruck than SDK

Ohh can you also give us a injury update please!
If you look on the AFL website there iss no mention on Shannon Neale and his had surgery. Also big Spinx Phoenix Foster?
As we seem to get better inside info on this then what the club releases..

Cheers

I reckon I've mentioned this before so apologies for the double up... but wondering if with the change in rights this year if theres a possibility of a podcasted post game, start to finish? Enjoy the call via the new live stream but lose the post game in the celebration/leaving the ground, so single podcast (not broken up like it is now) would be lovely :)

Gentlemen

Thank you for your great work so far this season.

The new K Rock Football Live site is an improvement to the listening experience. Particularly when watching the Cats play an interstate game on TV. The likes of Brereton and Ricciuto are muted immediately!

Under the new rights arrangements, are you allowed to make a full recording of a game available after it has finished, whether that's on the K Rock Football website, the Cat Attack Podcast, an app or some other option? Surely there is a way of doing this so that no-one can use the recording for any commercial purpose that would upset the AFL.

It is a delight to listen to Benny mention many things such as the Peter Street Stand*, a Mick Schulze defensive punch, or a high Mick Mansfield floater. It would be even better to hear these gems after the stress of match day has passed.

If the full games can be released, some listeners will refresh at a rate of knots and might end up nude.

* - Named this because the stand was tall, fragile and very temporary.

Anyone else notice how similar the voices of Ben Casenelia and Mark Neeld sound on radio? While one is entertaining, verbose and amusing, the other thoughtful, analytical and wise - I am not convinced this is not the same person impersonating 2 different people, 12th man style.
Just cas and his much more sensible alter ego :)
The wedding cake joke on the weekend wasn't bad though, must give credit where it's due
