Ceglar really has put McEvoys career at the cross roads, and with Hale signing on for another year we could already be seeing the end of the BB experiment. As others have said it was a no brainer we needed another ruck, no-one would have predicted the big Ceg to come on like he has.
 
I hope Suckling2Gunston is eating his words. The poster gave no respect to Cegs and saw him as the worst of our 4-5 ruckman. I could argue he is actually our best. Have backed the big fella in for a long time now and it's great to watch him prove people wrong. He can mark, he can move well, he can go forward and kick a goal and he is our best tap ruckman IMO. Must stay in for finals.
 
Cegs, I love your work, particularly your crazy eyes when they kick in. I just want to ask for one small thing. Don't do a Brodie Grundy on us.

You are downplaying Langford to that of an average ducker:thumbsu:

Begs the question as to what do we do with McEvoy. Trade him now while we could something in return and persist with Hale for a year and throw money at Lowden to stay for 2016-beyond. Or do we say goodbye to Hale and possibly let Lowden go to find opportunities and have McEvoy come back in and have Ceglar as our pinch hitting forward/ruck? It's nice to have options and depth - but a hard decision will need to be made.
 
I guess if Monkey can turn Ceglar into what he has in two years, then surely he'll turn McEvoy around in time - should he have the right attitude. Certainly an exciting prospect!
 
Wayne Carey says the Hawks will pick McEvoy over Ceglar when we play Fremantle because he believes McEvoy will do better against Sandilands.

Tom Harley says the Hawks will pick McEvoy over Ceglar when we play Sydney because we will need McEvoy's marking behind the ball.

Both comments made during the call of the Collingwood game on Friday night.
This means they think that Ceglar will only play against Geelong.

Not saying they are right but having Ceglar in against Geelong negates Blicavs mobility and prevents them getting an extra number around the ground. Nto the same issue against the other two teams.

McEvoy needs to get better. McEvoy took a swag of marks and moved around well, at VFL level there is more opportunity to take pack and intercept marks due to the slower and less direct ball movement. McEvoy rucked against some kids. He should have destroyed them, at halftime I thought the ruck contests were about even. I can't see McEvoy getting another run this year.
 
Ceglar's pace for his size is insane. He is going to be a real gun. We used to play ian paton as a roaming extra player around the ground, and damn the ruck contests, they're 50/50 anyway. Ceglar gives us Paton's around the ground stuff with ruck taps as well.

That is true. He also can run like that for 4 quarters. His contested marking has improved out of sight.
He has great potential. Hope he continues this form and improves even more.
 
When hopefully we play Sydney in the grand final we should use all 3 ruck man hale up forward and McEvoy and Cegler in the ruck so the Sam Reid can't play forward.
 
I think Hale should be traded at year end. Those who say he's finished forgot Rehn, Salmon and Everitt. A smart team would snap up a dual premiership ruckman with 3-4 possible years.

We could then keep Ceglar, McEvoy, and Lowden.

His goal on the siren displayed true grit and leadership.

He is most certainly a keeper. He could go down as one of our very best ever, and perhaps the Langford family can take over the Kennedy family as the true dynasty.


Speaking of dynasties, I heard someone claiming that Dustin Fletcher might be the first to play with a father and a son, Tuck did it with the Hudsons
