The League split is the way to go when you only play Club's once a year it's hard to build any rivalry or interest of note plus Club's are going to stuck in some massive Premiership droughts. Splitting into two will mean that two of the current 18 teams will taste that Premiership glory on an annual basis and that the chances of long term players at Club's will have a much greater chance of playing in a Premiership.

Well Done to Creswick on the weekend and Clunes for that matter. Creswick caught us napping but be assured they have improved again and could put pressure on the top 4. I was suprised at Clunes winning at Hepburn, the Burras didnt drop a game their last year and have already dropped two. There list still looks relatively strong although talking to a couple of boys down the street they reckon that the whole Club is flat as a tack and interest isn't great.

Hard to put a guage on who is travelling well as no one could claim to be a clear flag fav but more so that you could make a case for 4 or 5 that could win. Whats everyone's thoughts?

Big pat on the back to Daniel gunn from buninyong for his brave act taking out a 17 year old 40 metres behind play yesterday. Takes a lot of courage to do do that so well done champ.

Finals are only just around the corner, who do you think is the side to beat? Also who do you think will take out individual honors? Such as league B&F ect.

Just wanted to thank Batman and the rest of the Ballan club for allowing Priesty to come to Manor Lakes. Absolutely dominating, however don't think he would be as damaging at Ballan, as the ball doesn't get forward anyway.

Bet the Ballan committee are glad they extended Batmans contract, 3 wins.

I'm sure he won't be there next year, as soon as the going gets tough, batman gets going, in the other direction is the word around the west!

Sorry bungareepremiers06 but the East /West option has been presented to the League at a number of meetings and it has been passed over due to the Board saying that it is not in the best interests of the League. Who's interests? The West Division was presented with no Lexton,Waubra and Buninyong but with Creswick and the East Division with no Trentham or Creswick but with Buninyong and Waubra. If the West Division with 8 clubs was up and running then Creswick would/could be on top!!!! There is a league in Gippsland that has voted to go 2 divisions and they only have 15 teams! At least with these 2 Divisions/Conferences teams play each other twice and some rivallry can be gained. Plus we would have finals at other grounds insted of the old same old grounds. How can clubs compete when there is less money around for players!
Discussion?

With the first week of the finals here we are set for some ripping games.

Bunninyong Vs Hepburn- The pressure will be on Joey here. Undefeated minor premiers, expectations are sky high around the club. Could be a real danger game. But it won't. If conditions aren't too bad, the Bombers by 12-15 goals. Too many midfield rotations for Hepburn to compete with and should romp it in.

Waubra Vs Bungaree- Waubra, in my eyes, are the team to beat. Hard running, spread well and a lot of avenues to goal. Have an abundance of players that can kick goals and dominate in the middle. Should be too strong for a Demons outfit that will more than likely go out in straight sets.

Springbank Vs Creswick- Eltringham and McMahon. If these two fire, Creswick will not get within 10 goals of the Tigers. But if the Wick can shut these two down, could be a classic encounter. Shut the Tigers supply to their forwards and we could have a massive upset on our hands.

Daylesford Vs Gordon- This should be the match of the week. A young Gordon team, full of confidence from past results with the Dogs, up against the reigning premiers who seem to have been written off by most. The midfields will decide this one. Some young guns going head to head with one of the toughest midfield groups going around. My tip is that the experience of Daylesford will get them over the line in a tight one.

And with the Geoff Taylor medal coming up my prediction is Dean Kelly. Gets a mountain of it every week and also kicks goals. Should romp it in.

Why did we bother to combine the CHFL and LPFL, if two divisions is what everyone thinks is a good thing.

Excellent point Ellroy. Another thing to consider might be the fact that this has been done to death and the clubs recently voted overwhelmingly - as bungapremiers stated - to keep the league as is.

How does skippy1 think Trentham might fair against the likes of Daylesford & Hepburn? I reckon the margin would be in the vicinity of 400 points.

You were right there about this being a danger game. Finals are a completely different game! This will make it harder for Buninyong now to get to the finals.

And again- finals are a funny thing. IF Creswick had have kicked 2 goals at the start , if...... but it was great game though.

And again- finals are a funny thing. Also Buninyong losing not only the Seniors but the Reserves and under 17.5 goes to show that they have a harder road ahead.
But one major point - there were no big blow outs in any of the results!!!!

And with the Geoff Taylor medal coming up my prediction is Dean Kelly. Gets a mountain of it every week and also kicks goals. Should romp it in.

CHFL what a joke! How could finals footy be played on grounds like Springbank and Learmonth? An absolute disgrace! All week leading up to the games there was rain, Springbank trained on the oval Thursday night which they have every right too so there was no way known that the ground was ever going to be suitable to play on.

Wrecked the 1st week of finals footy and is a massive disadvantage to the sides that lost and had to play on the sh!tholes and now have to front up next week.

Where else would you have had them? Most grounds are bogholes with the amount of rain in the last 6 weeks and the league needed grounds that were close together for week one...

Pretty sure Beaufort, Waubra, Linton and Skipton are in far better condition than the grounds that were played on over the weekend..

really why did teams that finished higher end up on the worst grounds, they cant have home ground advantages for lots of reasons but surely Buninyong v Hepburn them finishing on top should not get the worst and pretty much unplayable ground or does that have something to do with the president of the chfl? they should of played Waubra v bunga at dunstown,Daylesford v gorden at springbank, hep v bun at Waubra, spri v cres at Learmonth if they had to use them grounds....BIG IF..........but the grounds will get better but really the top 4 did get ripped off imo and if I was Buninyong I would be pissed especially even though Hepburn did out play them on the day : )
if you have a look at the ladder from this year it is a ridiculously even comp for the amount of teams, if illabrook and rokewood moved on it would be spot on given that the bottom team was only four games off making finals (dunstown) the best way forward imo and no need to split into the east and west which would be stupid given the west division (from above) should let Waubra battle Buninyong for the flag before the season even starts hahahahahah so stupid considering its meant to even the comp up

Finals have to be played somewhere, and both clubs are competing are at the same disadvantage?

Buninyong vs Springbank and Bungaree vs Daylesford, what's everyones thoughts? Personally I can see the tiges getting up over the Buninyong, wasn't much in it after quarter time earlier in the year. Think Bungaree should account for Daylesford though.

A farce that Wallace Learmonth and Dunstown were used on the weekend. Finals should not be near that western freeway side of town. Beaufort Linton and possibly Snake Valley and Skipton were all way better alternatives. Bunninyong will be furious on a good deck they'd flog Hepburn

Sounds like sour grapes to me ,bunninyong s problems not the ground they played on it's there coach?they flogged Hepburn in the the same conditions a few weeks earlier in as bad conditions.the ground did not beat them everyone saying and them thinking they were unbeatable did(thats finals)they would possibly be going for back to back this year if they had a button Robinson etc at the healm

Sorry to all the Burra supporters out there. Apologies for not giving them a chance last week. Seems as though Raaky might have them firing at the right time of the year. Other than that, all results went to script. Oh, minus the Geoff Taylor. Now Chris Eastwell isn't the worst ever Geoff Taylor Medalist!!!

On to this weeks games.
Bunninyong Vs Springbank. Springbank have nothing to lose. So they're my choice. If they can run the bigger bodied Bombers off their feet, they could cause another boilover. Straight sets would have to show the Bunninyong committee that Gilbert has no idea what he is doing. Lets hope they win this week so he gets another three years at the helm.

Bungaree Vs Daylesford. The pressure will be on the Demons here. Two years of talking it up. A GF spot is here for the taking for them if they want it. Just don't know if they have the firepower to beat the Dogs. Was at the Dogs game on Sunday and they looked a totally different team to the one I saw playing mid year. Finals footballers, especially Luke Adams. By far the best 38 year old still playing country footy, like him or hate him. Dogs to get on top in the third and head to another Spa Country derby.
